Questions We Tried To Answer

Page 4: DATA OF THE SAMPLE Does it have cells? Can it grow and develop? Does it convert energy? Can it adapt to the environments? Can it reproduce?

Does it have cells? Some typical appearances of cells that we might see under microscopes.

Can it grow and develop?

Average temperature, average time for plants to grow.

Does it convert energy? Ways to test CO2 ---- Bromo-thymo-blue.

Does it adapt to the environment?

Knowing what kind of environments does it adapt to.

Does it reproduce? Observe.

Soil ½ cup of soil + ¼ cup of water + 1 spoon of sample

Salt water

1/3 cup of water + 1 spoon of salt + ½ spoon of sugar + 1 spoon of sample

Fresh water

1/3 cup of water + ½ spoon of sugar + 1 spoon of sample

Three Kinds of Environments

Three Kinds of Environments

Page 7: DATA OF THE SAMPLE Does it have cells? Can it grow and develop? Does it convert energy? Can it adapt to the environments? Can it reproduce?

Soil We expected the sample to grow in soil, so we can prove that this sample can grow and develop. And if it grows, we can use it to compare with other environments to see what kind of environments does it adapt the best to.

Saul water

We wanted to see if the sample can adapt to salt water environment or not. And if it grows in salt water, we can compare it with other two environments.

Fresh water

We wanted to see if the sample can adapt to fresh water environment or not. And if it grows in fresh water, we can compare it with other two environments.

Expectation From Three Environments

WHAT DID WE FIND FROM THE THREE CUPS

• Did it sprout? • Are there any cells?• If yes, what are the characteristics of

the cells?• What kingdom do the cells belong to?• Did the sample produce CO2?

CO2 TEST

SALT WATERThere is CO2, so the sample converts energy in salt water.

FRESH WATERThere is CO2, so the sample converts energy in fresh water.

ABOUT CELLS

• The sample seems to have cells. However, we did not find any cells with nucleus. The reasons might be

• 1.The sample is not stained.• 2. The nucleus is too small to see under

microscope.• Thus, if we have more time, we might need to

do more experiments.

Other Results

• Because we are not sure about if it has cells or not, it is impossible to tell what kingdom do the cells belong to.

• Because we do not have enough time for this observation, we can not tell if this sample can reproduce or not.

• By the end of the experiment, we found that there are some other organisms eating our samples in the salt water environment and fresh water environment.

Questions Remain

• Are there any nucleus in those cells?• Can it reproduce?
