Dash for Kids WELL WE HAVE DONE IT! Dash for Kids was an amazing success. This is due to the won-derful help from all the workers, volunteers, drivers, donors, and sponsors attendees. It takes all of us to put this event on whether you are out in front or behind the scenes you are appreci-ated. Doernbecher families had a great time and are looking forward to next year’s event. The smiles on the children’s face tell the story. Take Action INC always lends a helping hand at our event both with volunteers and donations. Their work to help children with food insecurities in the Portland Metropolitan area is so valu-able. There will be a follow up report on what we did well in the October Auspuff. Thank you for your help and support and see you at the track, Signa Vernholm [email protected] 503-720-7971

I am compiling a new 2017 Historian Book and am looking for members to email me their names along with how long they have been members. It would be great if you also know the month and year you started even if you stopped and joined again. If you are a driver, please send along a picture of your car and a little biography. Dear Cascade Members, Elections for the 2018 Cascade Board of Directors positions are coming up. Elections are held at the November general meeting. The BOD consists of eight members. We are look-ing for a slate of (at least) eight members to run for four available board positions. The posi-tion is a two year term with half of the board rotating out every year (four members will re-turn for their second year and four new members will be elected). Per the bylaws, we will appoint a five member nominating committee at the August general meeting. The appointed committee will then present a list of nominees to the members at the September general meeting. We will also accept additional nominees from the floor at the September and Octo-ber meetings. Ballots along with a brief resume of each prospective nominee will go out (mailed) to all members two weeks prior to the November meeting. Ballots will be tallied at the November meeting and the new board will be announced at the December banquet. To be eligible for a BOD position, you must be an Active or Lifetime member in good stand-ing for at least one year prior to nomination. Only one ACTIVE member from the same HOUSEHOLD is eligible. If you have questions regarding the positions, procedures, or requirements, please contact me or one of the current BOD members. We are looking for members for both the nominat-ing committee and members to run for the Board positions. The Board of Directors position is a challenging, fun, and very rewarding experience. I have included a couple of excepts from the Bylaws that further explain the process.
Section 3. TERM OF DIRECTORS: Four members of the Board of Directors and one alternate shall be elected each year, as hereinafter provided. Each shall serve two years and until his/her succes-sor is elected and installed. The Alternate shall serve one year, or, in the event of a vacancy in the Board of Directors caused by death, resignation or other reasons, he/she will fill that position for the remainder of the term vacated. In the event of a second vacancy in the same year, the President will announce a special election to fill the vacancy. The existing nominating committee will present a slate of not less than two nominees at the next regular General meeting after the vacancy has been announced.
Section 4. NOMINATIONS FOR DIRECTORS:
A five-member nominating committee, with one member being the Membership Chairperson, shall be elected by the membership at the August General meeting of each year. This committee shall present, whenever possible, a slate of eight nomi-nees at the September general meeting. There may be additional nominations from the floor at the September and October General meetings. A brief summary

of each of the nominee’s qualifications will be provided on the ballot by the Nomi-nating Committee.
Section 5. ELECTION OF DIRECTORS:
Prior to October 15, the Nominating Committee shall prepare the ballot publication and deliver it to the Secretary for mailing at least two weeks prior to the November General meeting. Elections shall be held at the November General meeting of each year. The Secre-tary shall mail a ballot to each Active and Lifetime member at least two weeks prior to the November General meeting. Each voter shall choose up to four of the listed nominees. Only those ballots shall be counted which have been returned to the Secretary no later than 15 minutes past the scheduled meeting beginning time on the day of the election. On that day, not less than three tellers, appointed by the President for that purpose, shall count the ballots; none of the tellers shall be a member of the Board of Directors, a candidate, or a candidate’s other HOUSEHOLD member. The four nominees who receive the largest number of votes will be declared elected by one of the three tellers. The nominee with the fifth largest number of votes will be de-clared the Alternate. The decision of the elected Alternate to accept or decline the position needs to be made by the convening of the new Board of Directors. If the elected Alternate declines the position, the nominee with the next largest number of votes will become the Alternate.
Section 6. ELIGIBILITY FOR DIRECTOR:
All board members shall be an ACTIVE or LIFETIME member in good standing for at least one year prior to nomination. Only one ACTIVE member from the same HOUSEHOLD will be eligible to be nominated.
No member may hold more than one position on the Board of Directors at one time. Please strongly consider getting involved. Your club needs and appreciates your help. Steve Powell Membership Chairperson 503-970-3190

o The BOD discussed compensation rates for traveling workers for our events. It was agreed that rates for both the Rose Cup event and the SVRA event would remain the same as for all our regular CSCC events. This was discussed in part because of a request from out of state workers to compensate at a high-er rate, due to confusion on which event they were attending, SVRA or Sovren (who offers higher compen-

sation). That particular request was denied 7 to 1.
o The request from Cathy McCause for CSCC to run a school before the October Lucky Dog Enduro was brought to the Board. Dan Heinrich ensured that there would be no insurance issues with this type of collaboration and many options on how this could be run were discussed. There were many negative points brought up as well, including October being a poor and historically unsuccessful time of year for a track day and the potential struggle to get enough instructors for an event after the season has ended. But the main concern was the cost of running the event and whether or not Lucky Dog could guarantee enough drivers and students to make such an undertaking profitable or, at the very least, a break even situation. It was unani-mously decided to deny the request at this time.
o Dan Heinrich has been working with a small group of racers and local club members to create a business plan for a new ‘Chump Car’ style enduro racing club. Though many details have not been decided, the club would be it’s own entity, ideally a joint effort between CSCC and another northwest ICSCC club. The rough plan was brought before the Board, simply to see if it was a venture our club was interested in pursu-ing further. The BOD unanimously agreed to move forward with exploring options and business models. There are no contracts or obligations at this time.
