The two teams are set for an opening draw from Scully-Fahey Field at noon. WHERE WE RANK The Green dropped two spots in the coaches’ poll to No. 15 this week, despite the win in New York City. However, in the media poll, Dartmouth held firm at No. 15 in the rankings for the second straight week. LAST TIME OUT The Green are coming off a heart-breaking loss in a mid-week game to Vermont at home Wednesday afternoon. The Catamounts scored in the second overtime during sudden-victory play to complete the 16-15 triumph. Six Dartmouth players registered at least two goals in the contest with freshman Gabby Starkey and senior Hana Bowers leading the way with three apiece. SCOUTING BROWN The Bears’ 7-1 overall record and .875 win percentage are both the best in the league this season, but a 1-1 mark in conference games has them fifth in the Ivy standings to this point. An 18-11 loss at Princeton is the lone blemish on the team’s record this season as it enters the contest on a four-game win streak, having taken a pair from USC (9-8 – 2OT) and St. Mary’s (14-3) in the most recent outings. Bre Hudgins leads Brown in goals (23), assists (8) and points (31) this season as she has proven herself to be one of the conference’s top offensive catalysts. Kellie Roddy has been outstanding in goal, posting a 7.32 goals- against average and a .450 save percentage en route to earning all seven wins. big green DARTMOIUTH PLAYS HOST TO BROWN IN IVY LEAGUE HOME OPENER Live Stats: DartmouthSports.com Live Video: DartmouthSports.com Twitter: @DartmouthWLax and @DartmouthSports MEDIA INFORMATION SCHEDULE DARTMOUTH WOMEN’S LACROSSE GAME NOTES 2013 DartmouthSports.com LAST TIME AGAINST BROWN The Big Green cruised to a 14-8 win in Providence on March 31, 2012 when these teams last met. Dartmouth came out firing, taking an early 4-0 lead and never looked back en route to the six-goal margin of victory. Liz Calby scored four times and finished with five points in the game, while Hana Bowers added three markers. ALL-TIME VS. THE BEARS In 40 all-time meetings before this season, Dartmouth holds a distinct 28-11-1 advantage over Brown. Last season’s win in Providence against the Bears was the fourth straight for the Big Green. RECORD TYING Lost in the shuffle of the double-overtime thriller on Wednesday was the record-setting performance of senior Courtney Bennett. One of the team’s three captains, Bennett picked up nine draw controls against the Catamounts, tying the single-game record set last season by Sarah Plumb against Boston University. The nine draws is one short of the Ivy league record for one game. Already this season, Bennett has set a new career high with 33 draw controls and has 79 for her career. SIX FOR 103 Kelsey Johnson tied her career high for ground balls in a game when she picked up six against Vermont. However, those six ground balls pushed her over the century mark as she entered the contest with 97 in her three and a half seasons with the team. She now has 103 in 58 career games played to average nearly two per outing. THIS WEEK 10 Location..............................................................Hanover, N.H. ▶UPCOMING IVY LEAGUE ▶ CAREER NUMBERSAlthough just nine games into her collegiate career, it was hard to overlook the numbers posted by freshman Jaclyn Leto against UVM. Leto set or tied her career highs in points (4), goals (2), assists (2), ground balls (3), draw controls (4) and caused turnovers (2) vs. the Catamounts.

▶ TWO AND FOURJunior Liz Calby matched her career high of six points vs. Vermont, scoring twice and assisting on four others for her second six-point game of the season (UNH, Feb. 28). Her three ground balls in the game were also a new career high for the Darien, Conn., native.

▶ MATCHING ITWith her 12th straight contest of at least two goals, senior Hana Bowers pushed her total this season to 22 with another three against Vermont. The total matches her single-season career high, set in 2012 when she netted 22 goals in 17 games, eight more than she has played this season.

▶ MADE THE STARTSophomore Jessica Venturino made her first career start on Wednesday, playing nearly the entire game for the Green and White. In that time, she set new single-game highs in ground balls (2) and caused turnovers (2), while matching a previous mark with one draw control.

▶ BALANCED ATTACKAgainst the Catamounts, six players registered at least two goals, including at least one representative from each of the team’s four classes. Freshman Gabby Starkey had three, while classmate Leto scored a pair of goals. Frances Bird led the sophomores with two, while the junior class had the two scores from Calby. Bowers and Bennett had three and two goals, respectively, for the senior class.

▶ BIG NUMBERSWith just an additional 9:39 of action for the overtime periods, Dartmouth registered new season highs in shots (45), shots on goals (30), points (23), goals (15), assists (8), ground balls (27), and caused turnovers (20). The previous high for CTs in 2013 was 10, while the most shots attempted in a game prior to Wednesday was 31 with both figures coming at Yale.

▶ WHAT’S AHEAD?The mid-week games are a thing of the past for the Big Green for the rest of 2013. Dartmouth will return to action next Saturday (April 6) against Cornell as the two teams meet in Hanover for the third and final matchup of the Big Green’s current three-game homestand. Opening draw is set for noon.

▶ PICK IT UPJunior Kristen Giovanniello had a season-high six ground balls against the Lions. Her career high for GBs in a single outing is seven, set last season against Vermont.

▶HEAD COACH AMY PATTON

The 2013 season marks the 21st for head coach Amy Patton at Dartmouth, having led the Big Green to unprecedented success both within the Ivy League and on the national scale. With 209 career wins, 12 NCAA Tournament appearances, nine Ivy League championships and four NCAA Final Fours to her credit, Patton is one of the nation’s elite coaches. Beyond Hanover, Patton is an active part of U.S. Lacrosse, having recently served as head coach of the U.S. Women’s National Developmental team.

Dartmouth has been a model of consistency under Patton, ranked in the IWLCA top-20 during every

single season that she has coached and has ranked in the top-10 nationally in 18 of those, including in both 2010, 2011 and 2012. As a program, Dartmouth is one of just five teams to be ranked during every single season since the IWLCA began weekly polls in 1988.

In 20 years as Dartmouth’s head coach, Patton owns a 221-103 overall record, 105-30 in Ivy League play, winning nearly 78 percent of Dartmouth’s conference games. Since her arrival in Hanover in 1993, the Big Green has reached double figures in wins 16 times and advanced past the NCAA first round seven times. Patton’s teams are no strangers to perfection, five times winning the Ivy League unbeaten, most recently in 2005. From 1997-2001, Dartmouth won 22 consecutive Ancient Eight contests, en route to three-straight 7-0 championship seasons.

Dartmouth’s defense has ranked in the top-10 nationally in scoring defense seven times since 2002, including leading the nation in that category in 2006.

In 2012, Patton and the Big Green finally won the Ivy League Tournament Championship, taking down top-seeded Penn, 6-4, in the title game. The Green

held the Quakers without a goal for 44 minutes to complete the comeback win two days after knocking off Cornell in a thrilling 9-8 game. In winning the crown, Dartmouth would advance to its 13th NCAA Tournament and the 12th since Patton took control of the program.

Patton’s 19th season at the helm (2011) was a special one in which Dartmouth won its 11th Ivy League Championship and made its 12th NCAA Tournament appearance. Ranked as high as 10th nationally during the season, it marked a true return to glory for the Big Green, which had not won an Ivy title since 2005 and had not been to the postseason since 2006. Dartmouth also knocked off previously unbeaten No. 1 Maryland on May 1, snapping the Terps’ 28-game winning-streak and becoming the first team other than North Carolina to beat Maryland since 2008.

Patton’s efforts have not gone unrewarded on a personal level. She was named the IWLCA National Coach of the Year in 1998, was one of three finalists for that honor in 1993 — her first season at the helm — and has been the Northeast Region’s Coach of the Year three times (1994, 1995, 1998).

One of the most recognized names in college women’s lacrosse, Patton is a prominent member of the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). She was vice president of the IWLCA for two years. Most recently, Patton headed the Brine All-America selection committee and has served on the Tewaaraton Trophy selection committee. Patton was a U.S. Squad selector in 1993, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2006, 2007 and 2008. She was also a member of the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Committee and assistant coach for the U.S. National Developmental team in 1998-2000. Patton served as head coach of the developmental squad from 2006-09.

Prior to her appointment as head coach at Dartmouth, Patton served as an assistant to former coach and athletics director Josie Harper from 1991-92. Patton served as an assistant for the University of Maryland women’s lacrosse team during the 1990 season.

Patton is a 1988 graduate of the University of Maryland where she earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education. As an athlete, Patton was a four-year letterwinner in both lacrosse and field hockey, earning All-America and All-ACC accolades. She was a member of Maryland’s 1986 NCAA national championship lacrosse team and earned the Terps’ scholar-athlete award.
