Controlling the DART-SVP from your PC The DART-SVP controller runs a web server that you can connect to using an Ethernet cable and view inside a web browser. There is no software to install and it works on any modern operating system. Setting up Network Connections:

In order to communicate with the DART-SVP, your computer needs to have a static IP address. Please follow the instructions in the SVP Network installation manual.

Accessing the DART-SVP in your web browser:

Once your network connections are set up, power on your DART-SVP. The Ethernet connection that it is connected to should become active.

Open your PCs web browser. We strongly recommend using the latest version of firefox.

Navigate to this address: http://192.168.10.111

You should see a page that looks like the one below:

Overview of the Apple iPod Touch The Apple iPod touch provides a self-contained, intuitive, and revolutionary user interface for the DART-SVP system.

Turning on the iPod

Most of the time, the iPod is in a standby state, which it can be awakened from by pressing the button under the screen. It will return to the standby state when not used for 5 minutes, which is a setting that can be changed. From the locked position the iPod can be unlocked or “activated” by simply sliding the arrow on the touch screen to the right. If the iPod does not turn on when the center button is pressed, it may

be powered down or out of battery power. To power it on, hold the

button on the top of the device for several seconds. An apple logo will

appear if it has power. If nothing happens after 10 seconds, connect

the iPod to a powered USB port on a PC or on the DART SVP using

the supplied cable. The screen will show a battery indicator, but will not

be “unlockable” until it has at least a 10% charge.

19

Software Updates Updating the Web Software 1. Acquire the .bin file: When an update is available, IonSense will provide you with a .bin file. It may be emailed to you or made available online. The file size is around 150 KB, but may become slightly larger as new features are added.

2. Connect to the upload page: While the DART-SVP controller is running and connected to your PC, navigate to this page: http://192.168.10.111/mpfsupload

3. Upload the .bin file: Click the browse button to find the .bin file on your PC. Click the Upload button after your file has been selected.

4. Wait 15 seconds: The upload only takes a few seconds to complete. When it is finished, a link to the homepage will be displayed.

5. Confirm the new version: View the About screen on the settings page to verify that the version displayed is the one that you uploaded. If it is not, you should perform a “hard-refresh” in your browser (typically Ctrl+F5). This will clear cached data and reload the files from the DART-SVP.

Page 23: DART SVP - IonSense Manual 3.0 1.3.pdf · (blue) Speed •Select the desired speed from the dropdown. •If the rail is moving, the speed will change as soon as a new value is selected
