Star Wars: Fan FilmsHave you ever wanted to make your own Star Wars movie? Star Walking Inc. (the Star Wars Appreciation Society of Australia) hosts a special screening of Star Wars fan films made over the last few decades, followed by a talk about script writing, character creation and what it takes to write a fan film script.Some of the films to be screened will include violent scenes, so parental supervision is recommended for those aged under 15 years. Melbourne!’ we meet the artists and the creators of this new phenomenon in Australian book publishing. To celebrate, the 'Splendid Chaps' team, Ben McKenzie (Dungeon Crawl, 'patron saint of geek comedy') and John Richards (ABC1’s Outland, Boxcutters TV podcast) are recording a live podcast every month from January to November.Fresh from their Melbourne Comedy Festival performances, the Splendid Chaps present an EXTRA show for us at Northcote Library - a special comedy celebration of Doctor Who books! Katie Purvis, (editor at Penguin Books and presenter of Katie's Cut Lunch on Joy 94.9), Dave Hoskin, (journalist, Doctor Who short story author and presenter on the Shooting The Poo podcast) and performance guest Lawrence Leung (comedian and presenter of ABC1's Choose Your Own Adventure and Unbelievable) will join the hosts.Suitable for all ages. Splendid Chaps is a year-long live performance/podcast project celebrating Doctor Who‘s fiftieth anniversary. This special bonus episode recording at Northcote library is all about Doctor Who books! Books have always been an important part of Doctor Who, from Target novelisations to original novels and stranger tomes. Hosts Ben McKenzie, John Richards and Petra Elliott will be joined by guests Katie Purvis and Dave Hoskin for discussion and readings - including something special from comedian Lawrence Leung!
