    A New Leaf: Mr Eddie Joseph, at the age of !, had his house almost taken away by the

    "#B, his wife was filing a divorce and his son was going wayward. $hen committing suicide

    did not work out, he decided to approach the rehabilitation centre for help to overcome his

    alcohol addiction. % year later, he managed to keep his house, save his marriage and protect

    his son from treading the wrong path &ust like him. 'oday, Mr Joseph, (!, is an %ssistant

    #irector at #%RE Centre, inspiring other wayward residents to change their lifestyle for the

    Finding Acceptance+ 'he Rehabilitation Centre also functions as a Christian 'herapeutic

    Community where they reach the spiritually lost people. 'he centre uses spiritualism as a

    -bridge to reach out to the socially disconnected residents. 'he centre has prayer sessions

    every 'hursday from /.0pm to 10.1!pm where they inculcate good behaviour and make the

    Stepping Up+ Mr Chua 'ian 2oon, 34 )left, and Mr Joe 'an, 3 )right, came to #%RE

    centre after being addicted to drugs. $ith the guidance of Mr Joseph and the willingness to

    change, they turned over a new leaf. 5ow, they are one of the best players in the football

    team of the centre and they even share their e6periences and give advices to new residents

    Winning trophies: % few years ago, the rehabilitation centre had more young football

    players. 'hey used to take part in 7utsal 'ournaments among all the halfway houses and

    prisons. 'he centre won the championship title a couple of times. 2ometimes, they had

    matches with schools, organisations and agencies as well. )*hoto by #hivyaa

    Looking Back+ 2ometimes, matches with other rehabilitation centres were held in the field

    behind their kitchen. 'he residents also play football in this field on a daily basis for

    recreational purposes now. Residents as young as 80 years old and as old as !0 years old

    Be Loved: *haraoh, the male dog who is at least 10 years old, has been in the centre for

    five years. "e not only guards the centre but also acts as a therapy pet for the residents

    living there. 'he residents bring *haraoh out for walks, shower, feed and play with him on a

    regular basis. 'he relationship the residents build with the dog helps them to control their

    centre for the 801! 2E% 9ames. 'he structure e6presses their desire to change. $hen the

    core of the #5% changes, transformation begins. :ikewise, the residents believe new
