DARA STRING FESTIVAL curated by Biliana Voutchkova August 24/25 @ Alte Feuerwache / Köln August 26 @ ORT/ Wuppertal August 28/29 @ Werkhalle Wiesenburg / Berlin All concerts start at 18:00 Dara String Festival crosses genre boundaries by bringing together renowned in- ternational artists from different musical backgrounds. The festival days inspire new thoughts and ideas towards the advancement of individual and collective artistic work. The third festival edition will present a variety of solo and ensemble music ranging from early contemporary to experimental, improvised and electroacoustic music. The program will include the world premieres of works by Clara de Asís, Anna Kor- sun, Harold Budd and Viola Yip, alongside compositions by Luigi Nono, Rebecca Saunders, Marc Sabat, Helmut Lachenmann, Karlheinz Stockhausen and original works/improvisations by the artists. The first guest appearance of DARA in Köln and Wuppertal will focus on two instruments - the violin and the cello. The Berlin edition will open towards more unconventional string instruments, including the pedal steel guitar and the self-made instrument Konstruktion#4.
