The Sustainable Food Cities Network is an alliance of
public, private and third sector organisations, who believe
in the power of food as a vehicle towards positive
change, in order to promote sustainable food for the
benefit of people and the planet.
The Sustainable Food Cities approach is about getting
public, private, voluntary and community organisations to
work together to develop a joint vision for healthy and
sustainable food in their city or area and to develop and
deliver an action plan that turns that vision into reality.

Results The Sustainable Food Cities approach is about recognising the main role
that food can play in positive social, economic and environmental
change.
Work to embed the principles of sustainable food in policy across the
city to ensure the long term sustainability of food work.
Creating a city-wide cross-sector partnership of public agencies
(health, environment, economy), businesses, voluntary & community
organisations.
Developing a joint vision and common goals on how healthy and
sustainable food can become a defining characteristic of their city.
Develop and implementing an action plan that leads to significant
measurable improvements in all aspects of food, health and
sustainability.
Who can join the Network?
Any town or city can join the Network as long
as they have some kind of food partnership working
to create a better food system. The key is to share
successes and failures and to be interested in
