THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXASDIRECTOR/CHOREOGRAPHER CHRISTINA LAZOMUSIC DIRECTOR
DAVE DOBRUSKYBY CAROL HALL, LARRY L. KING, & PETER MASTERSON
Irreverent, fun, and surprisingly senti-mental, the true story of Texas’ Chicken Ranch brothel comes to life in this 1979 country and western musical. Miss Mona’s “establishment” has operated for decades with a turned eye from the local Sheriff, entertaining politicians, celeb-rities, and even the local college football teams. But when a television moral cru-sader sets his sights on shutting down the Ranch, chaos ensues all the way up to the Governor’s office! Nominated for seven Tony Awards including Best Musical, The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas is a down-home treat!

Considered one of the greatest mayors in American history, Fiorello H. La Guardia successfully rose from crusading lawyer to Congressman to running New York City, fighting the corrupt forces of Tammany Hall while never losing his upbeat spirit or pledge to help the less fortunate. The story of the larg-er-than-life, eternally optimistic Fiorello! won the Tony Award for Best Musical as well as the Pulitzer Prize and was the first major hit for Sheldon Harnick and Jerry Bock, who went on to write the immortal Fiddler on the Roof.

Moon is honored to bring the Bay Area regional premiere of the Tony winner for Best Musical in 2013, Once. Based on the 2007 movie, Once tells of an Irish musi-cian who learns to love and dream again through a fateful week with a Czech immi-grant. Heart-breakingly romantic but also bursting with joy and humor, Once features a lively folk score – the only one to have won an Oscar, Grammy, Tony and Olivier Award, and demonstrates the power that music has to connect us all.

DAMES AT SEADIRECTOR/CHOREOGRAPHER ALEX RODRIGUEZMUSIC DIRECTOR DAVE DOBRUSKYBOOK AND LYRICS BY GEORGE HAIMSOHN & ROBIN MILLERMUSIC BY JIM WISE
It’s 42nd Street meets Anything Goes meets Busby Berkeley in Hollywood in this gem of a show which opened Off-Broadway in 1968 and helped launch the career of Bernadette Peters. Sweet, innocent Ruby arrives in New York with big dreams and lands in the chorus of a new show—but the theatre is about to be torn down! Can sailor-turned-songwriter Dick find a new venue for the show while juggling temperamental diva Mona, frazzled producer Hennesy and starry-eyed ingénue Ruby? Full of vim, verve, and tap-dancing, Dames At Sea will charm its way into your heart.

At turns introspective, romantic, and joyously hopeful, 110 In The Shade is a poi-gnant look at romance in a drought-stricken Depression-era town. Sharp-witted but inse-cure, rancher’s daughter Lizzie is resolving herself to live out life as a spinster until charming stranger Starbuck comes to town with the promise to make it rain, encourag-ing Lizzie to dream beyond her own view of herself. This beautiful show boasts a score by Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones (best known for the longest-running musical in history, The Fantasticks).
FROM YOUR DIRECTORSA poignant reflection on love, beauty, and family... a Pulitzer Prize-winning story of one of America’s greatest politicians... a tap-dancing love letter to 1930s musicals... a high-energy country-and-western romp... and the regional premiere of one of this decade’s most popular musicals. Moon’s 26th season continues to celebrate the incredible depth and breadth of musical theatre.
Over the last two seasons, we have been humbled to have witnessed some of the largest audiences in Moon’s history, as well as some of the greatest artistic achieve-ments by our actors, directors, and designers. Being a season subscriber means you have the opportunity to witness this as well—while showing your support for one of the Bay Area’s most beloved theatre companies.
We’re also pleased to continue bringing our audiences special events, such as a tour de force solo show by one of our favorite performers, and our annual musical in concert. Season subscribers will get first pick of seats for these shows, as well as additional discounts on tickets.
It is the love and support of patrons like you that allow us to celebrate the joy and magic of musical theatre. Join us and experience that joy and magic for yourself !
