Commercial Infill Development

This project introduced the concept of Building Information Systems to develop a multi-purpose building that included residential spaces and a bar. Through this project I gained a sound understanding of the software package, Revit.

This building was designed to theoretically replace a restaurant located at Potts Point, Sydney. To further our understanding of architectural real world dimensions, the design incorporated a mixture of residental spaces and an open artist gallery space. This lead to a greater awareness of the challenges and restrictions faced within a smaller urban context.

This project was a research project on the Bordeaux House designed by Rem Koolhaas, our task was to learn the architectural themes and ideologies that made the design so successful. We were required to produce scale section models of the house as well as to re-draw the plans and elevations to gain a strong architectural understanding.

Structures and Construction This project was completed during the structures and construction subject stream. During this project we were required to produce constructional documentation of a given architectural project using the software package auto cad.

Case Study House 18 This project was conducted as an architectural study which I focused on the Case Study House 18 designed by Craig Ellwood in 1956. This project required us to reconstruct the residential unit through the use of the 3D program, SketchUp. We presented architectural drawings and a 3D model to examine the architectural themes and ideologies that were present in the building’s design and final construction.

This pixel design was created for Sydney Architecture Festival, that is to be held at Customs House in Circular Quay in October. This design was developed through the use of Grasshopper and increased my knowledge of building processes associated with timber structures and eccentric cam systems.

Sydney Architecture Festival This pixel design came through a refined collaboration process in a group of 5 students. This project enhanced my communication and interpersonal skills within a team environment. I further developed a strong awareness for structural constraints and properties of different materials and their relation to a larger parametric system.

During an elective Parametric Design Using BIM, we analysed the use of the software package Revit in the process of developing and applying parametric BIM family models to realistic projects, with an particular analysis on façade systems.

During my time at Cox Architects I worked on the New Children’s Hospital in Perth project, This project involved collaborating with a design team in Perth to produce Revit parametric models of bespoke joinery items to produce professional documentation allowing their designs to be built by the contractors.
