By converging our current potential media channels, 124FW/PA is building a synergistic force multiplier for our commander. It increases his/her offensive and defensive arsenal of strategic communication. The leadership of the 124th Fighter Wing believes in fostering dialogue between commanders and their full-time and drill-status guardsmen. The communications loop from wing commander to line warfighter continues to tighten as we add layers of communication that complement (and not compete with) each other.

The 124th Fighter Wing communications program must reach a 300-strong full-time workforce living primarily in or near the Gem States capital city and a 1000-member traditional guardsmen membership scattered this western state. Communities supporting Idaho Guardsman overlap and spoke outward from the nexus of Gowen Field, Boise Air Terminal. Social media must also overlap and spoke outward to connect the majority of this unique audience of participating members, their families, supporters, elected officials, contractors, neighbors, and affected stakeholders. Redundancy is not a wasted effort. Our various audiences dont seek information and dialogue through a universal communication channel. Our growing social media infrastructure is growing and learning and will continue to change with the needs of our membership. Our official newsletter resides on DVIDS http://www.dvidshub.net/publication/384/thebeacon?sms_ss=blogger&at_xt#.UtIi4GRDvKI Our readership learns of each new issue through notification via monthly professional email campaign, Wing Facebook 124th Fighter Wing (Official) page announcements http://www.facebook.com/124FWOfficial, through our Twitter Feeds http://twitter.com/124FighterWing, our Instagram posts http://www.instagram.com/124fighterwing and through our members only blog The Beacon Online http://bit.ly/124Beacon. Our Twitter stream is prominently displayed on the home page; approximately half of our Twitter followers are news media outlets who follow our links back to released material from the 124th Fighter Wing. All of these social media tools allow for expanded of coverage of topics that vary in interest to the various demographics represented in Idaho Air National Guard membership. We have permanent secure widgets of our flickr http://flic.kr/ps/2tB3kf Twitter, and Facebook presence that reach our largest web audiencevisitors to our official web page: http://www.idaho.ang.af.mil.

Recently we used a SlideShare widget (on our home page) to increase the ease of access to an publically released environmental assessment for visitors of our page. In return this allows our command staff real-time data of who is opening the assessment and the locations from where they are accessing the Internet.

    The Clear

    Choice for the

    F-35A

    GOWEN FIELD

    BOISE, ID

Gowen Field has been a national treasure

that will continue to play a critical role in

the future of the Air National Guard and

the U.S. Air Force. Idaho is the clear

choice among competitors in the F-35A

basing decision. The 124th Fighter Wing

is standing at the ready to host the most

    advanced tactical fighter ever produced.

    Effective utilization of our reserve

components is critical if we want to

get the best defense of our nation,

particularly if resources are scarce. -Deborah Lee James,

23rd Secretary of the Air Force

If we can be a more cost-efficient

    force while remaining an

    operationally effective force, we

    ought to go there.

    -Gen Mark A. Welsh III

Chief of Staff of the Air Force There is no time where the value of the

Citizen Airman has been more apparent.

The unique features of Gowen Field, Boise, Idaho, make it the clear choice for the F-35A.

Over 44 acres of dedicated National Guard ramp space and two parallel runways (10,000 and 9,750).

One of the best air combat training complexes in the U.S. with over 10,000 sq miles available, 2 air-to-ground training ranges, 7 additional target complexes, over 450 targets, and over 80 threat emitters, all within 50 nautical miles of Gowen Field.

Location promotes full spectrum joint integration with 4th generation F-15Es at Mt. Home AFB, TACP support from the 124th Air Support Operations Squadron, and Idaho Army National Guard AH-64 and UH-60 helicopters, both from Gowen Field.

The Idaho Air National Guard successfully recruits 101 percent of the manpower force it needs to field over 1300 trained and highly experienced personnel.

Gowen Field is one of three National Guard bases with an aviation fuel pipeline direct from the distributor.

    Unmatched community integration and support!

    Gowen Field: The Clear Choice

    for the F-35A

A GOOD VALUE FOR AMERICA Only in southern Idaho do the factors of uncluttered airspace, dedicated manpower, modern military avia-tion facilities, and deep community support result in maximum combat effectiveness for future missions like the F-35. This duel use field sits across from Boise Air-port. Boise leases the base to the Idaho Air National Guard for just $1 per year. The return on Americas in-vestment in military flying training is unmatched either in depth or breadth.

Gowen Field is less than 50 NM from some of the best training airspace in the U.S. today. In just a few minutes, military fighter jets can reach the Mt. Home Range Complex (MHRC) combined with the Saddle MOA/ATCAA allow for full spectrum Air-to-Air and Air-to-Ground training and employ-ment in a contested environment The close prox-imity of Mt. Home AFB will enable F-35A/F-15E integration training on a daily basis. The synergistic effect of this focused, 4th/5th-generation fighter integration is critical to the readiness of our fighter fleet as the U.S. Air Force transitions to the F-35A..
