POLICY ANALYST

A detail-oriented researcher with almost eight years of experience conducting literature reviews,

analyzing and collecting data, and writing reports for both technical and political audiences. Proficient at

integrating policy analysis and digital mediums to communicate vital information. Experienced in

conducting advanced econometric and statistical analysis, including forecasting public revenues.

Understands how to communicate to elected officials at the state and local level, as well as with the

general public.

EXPERIENCE

Policy Analyst

Oregon Center for Public Policy January 2017 – . . .

Working at OCPP gives me the opportunity to delve into three main buckets of work on tax and housing

policy. First, I conduct data analysis and draft research reports, op-ed’s and other written materials.

Second, I communicate this research and analysis with members of the public, such as at community

events or public forums, and the media, including interviews on TV, radio, and in print. Finally, I

advocate the conclusions of the research in the legislature and with coalition partners – pushing to change

public policy to better align with OCPP’s mission of advancing economic opportunity for all Oregonians.

Transportation Policy Analyst June 2016 – January 2017

Road Policy Specialist March 2014 – June 2016

Association of Oregon Counties

I forecast changes to county transportation policies and procedures as a result of legislative actions and

estimate the fiscal implications of county, state, and federal proposals on county transportation revenues.

During the legislative session, I was involved with the tracking and management of various transportation

and road proposals. I have been responsible for the research, data analysis, drafting, and graphic design of

major publications and legislative factsheets. Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with

legislators, county staff and commissioners, and agency staff has allowed me to be an effective nexus

between counties and their partners.

Mark O. Hatfield Resident Fellow

Oregon Department of Agriculture July 2013 – February 2014

I worked in conjunction with Portland State University's Hatfield School of Government to conduct a

feasibility study, program evaluation, and cost-benefit analysis of a program in the Oregon Department of

Agriculture. I had to assess the financial and operational strength of the fruit and vegetable inspection

program, as well as interface with elected officials and agricultural industry representatives to ensure buy-

in.

Graduate Research & Teaching Assistant

Oregon State University January 2012 – June 2013

Commission to assess the extent of cost sharing in higher education in the UK. When I worked for Dr.

Steel, I helped design and implement a survey to assess the communication and collaboration of wildfire

officials in central Oregon. As a Teaching Assistant, I enjoyed and excelled in explaining complex

concepts in simple terms to non-major undergraduates as well as assisting experienced graduate students

grapple with the Stata statistical software and advanced statistical methodology.
