The priests were divided into groups of 24 (1 Chronicles 14), each serving on his regular tour for 2 separate weeks and at the three important feasts.According to Deuteronomy 16: 16, for three feasts (Unleavened Bread, Pentecost, and Tabernacles) all men were to go to Jerusalem

Each tour of duty lasted one week beginning and ending on a Sabbath ( 1 Chronicles 9: 25; 2 Chronicles 23: 8). The Division of Abijah was the eighth division. (1 Chronicles 24: 10)

Lunar Calendar: 12 months of 29.53 days. A common year had 354 days. The months alternate between 30 and 29 days.

This synchronized the Jewish lunar calendar of 360 days to the solar calendar of 365 days by adding leap monthsLeap Month: Month Adar II is added 7 times in the 19 year cycle at year 3,6,8,11,14,17 and 19 .

The Birth of ChristLuke 1: 5,8,24. – Zacharias was serving in the temple according to the division of Abijah. So he served in the eighth rotation (1 Chronicles 14: 10). (Month 3 day 8-14)Conception of John the Baptist. Luke 1: 23-24 – Elizabeth became pregnant after he came back from his tour of duty after the third Sabbath. * (Month 3 day 15)Conception of Jesus. Luke 1: 26 – Gabriel came to Mary in the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy. * (Month 9 day 15)Birth of John the Baptist. John was probably born on Passover. Jewish custom has set an extra cup of wine for the coming of Elijah (Malachi 4:5). Matthew 17: 10-13, Jesus referred to John as Elijah (Elias)..Birth of Jesus. Luke 2: 6 – Mary did not give birth prematurely. The normal period of pregnancy is 40 weeks (266 – 294 days). Jesus was born on the first day of the feast of Tabernacles (Tishri 15) and He was circumsized on Tishri 22, eight days later (Luke 2: 21). Both days were ceremonial Sabbaths.

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and tabernacled among us.

Other Evidence: Luke 3: 23 states that Jesus began His ministry when He was about 30 years old. We know that He lived for another 3.5 years until He was crucified during the passover. If you count back 3.5 years from the passover, you will arrive at the period around the feast of Tabernacles - His birthday.

Notice that every time Satan tried to establish worship for himself he uses a perverted version of the sanctuary. The idea of a meal with God seems to be a more important concept than we realize. It is connected to eternal life. The devil has tried to duplicate this every time.

The Words of the AntichristThere was given to him a mouth speaking arrogant words and blasphemies, and authority to act for forty two months was given to him. And he opened his mouth in blasphemies against God, to blaspheme His name and His tabernacle, that is, those who dwell in heaven. It was also given to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. (Revelation 13: 5-7)And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time, times and the dividing of a time. (Daniel 7:25)Great words against God.

"... the power of the priest is the power of the divine person; for the transubstantiation of the bread requires as much power as the creation of the world. ... thus the priest may be called the creator of the Creator ..." - The diginity of the priesthood by Liguori, page 33

And God himself is obliged to abide by the judgment of his priest and either not to pardon or to pardon, according as they refuse to give absolution, provided the penitent is capable of it." - Liguori, Duties and Dignities of the Priest, page 27

The Pope has the power to change times, to abrogate laws, and to dispense with all things, even the precepts of Christ." "The Pope has the authority and often exercised it, to dispense with the command of Christ." Decretal, de Tranlatic Episcopal Caption (The Pope can modify divine law.) Ferraris' Ecclesiastical Dictionary.

The Pope is of great authority and power that he can modify, explain, or interpret even divine laws ... The Pope can modify divine law, since his power is not of man, but of God, and he acts as vicegerent of God upon earth." - Lucius Ferraris, Prompta Ribliotheca, "Papa," Article 2, translated

The authority of the church could therefore not be bound to the authority of the Scriptures, because the Church had changed ... the Sabbath into Sunday, not by command of Christ, but by its own authority." Canon and Tradition, page 263

Had she not such power, she could not have done that in which all modern religionists agree with her; -- she could not have substituted the observance of Sunday the first day of the week, for the observance of Saturday the seventh day, a change for which there is no Scriptural authority." - Reverend Stephan Keenan, A Doctrinal Catechism, "On the Obedience Due to the Church," chapter 2, page 174. (Imprimatur, John Cardinal McCloskey, archbishop of New York.)

Wear out the saints

Experience teaches that there is no other remedy for the evil, but to put heretics (Protestants) to death; for the (Romish) church proceeded gradually and tried every remedy: at first she merely excommunicated them; afterwards she added a fine; then she banished them; and finally she was constrained to put them to death." - Cardinal Bellarmine famous champion of Romanism cited by Schumucker page 76

That the Church of Rome has shed more innocent blood than any other institution that has ever existed among mankind, will be questioned by no Protestant who has a competent knowledge of history . . . It is impossible to form a complete conception of the multitude of her victims, and it is quite certain that no powers of imagination can adequately realize their sufferings." -- W. E. H. There are five major parallels between Daniel 12 and Revelation 10. # Similarity Daniel 12 Revelation 10

1 The angels in each account are standing by a body of water Daniel 12: 5 Revelation 10: 2

2 Both angels are swearing an oath. Daniel 12: 7 Revelation 10: 6

3 Both angels are concerned with a time prophecy. Daniel 12: 7 Revelation 10: 6

4 Both angels are relating to the contents of a book.

Daniel 12: 9 The one in Daniel 12 is sealing it. Revelation 10: 2 The one in Revelation 10 is opening it.

5 The opening of both books revolves around a trial and a test

Daniel 12: 10 the righteous are refined and tried before they understand.

Revelation 10: 10, 11 the righteous experience a bitter disappointment before they understand the prophetic word.

If this is an accurate assessment, it means that the beast of Revelation 13 steals everything that is set aside for God.

The First Four Commandments. 1. One God. He requires people to worship the beast.

Verse 4, 122. Idols. He creates and image and requires people to

worship it. Verse 14-153. Name of God. He honors the name of the beast.

Verse 174. Sabbath. He creates an alternate Sabbath. Verse 16

God's Treasures. He takes the portion of that is set aside for God.
