DANANGWATER 2021 will be hosting a forum addressing the city’s water management. From sewage engineering to rainwater collection, this year’s theme will highlight Danang’s concerns as the city develops further. This 2-day Forum will feature local and international leaders, managers and industry experts regarding construction, city planning, environmental concerns, and smart city innovations.

The DANANGWATER 2021 FORUM gives a voice for environmental concerns and ideas for the future development of Danang. Exhibitors will be given priority to present papers at the Forum and will be allocated 45 minutes speaking slot. • Danang granted 14 investment certi�cates to foreign investment projects with the total committed capital of more than USD$1.68 million in the �rst quarter of 2020.

• The city attracted nearly USD$700 million in foreign investment in 2019, with 130 newly licensed projects with total registered capital of USD$410 million. This �gure is 8 times higher than the investments in 2018.

• Danang will spend USD$62.5 million on major projects to improve its beaches through drainage construction to prevent untreated wastewater from polluting its beaches. This is crucial as the city’s two wastewater treatment plants (Son Tra and Ngu Hanh Son) are struggling to manage wastewater and rainwater.

• The water supply sector in Vietnam is an attractive investment due to high pro�t margins and good growth potential. The annual compound growth rate (CAGR) of the water sector in 2017-2020 is 43% for industrial use and 35% for clean water consumption.

• The Da Nang People’s Council has approved numerous of embellishment projects in the city. Some notable projects include the installation of rainwater drainage systems in the Thanh Khe and Lien Chieu districts worth USD$13.5 million and the 3rd stage of the Hoa Xuan wastewater treatment plant worth USD$25.5 million.

• Environmental concerns are a priority for Danang in addressing city pollution. The year 2020 has seen the installation of sewage collection pipelines along coastal Nguyen Tat Thanh Street which stretches through the districts of Hai Chau and Thanh Khe and Lien Chieu at a cost of USD$20 million.

• Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment To Van Hung pointed out how despite having over 200 licensed facilities to connect to underground drainage systems in the city since 2010, only 13% met the requirements on safe drainage system connections.
