Architectural Design Workshop #3Brescia. The Subway

Year 2012

Theme Almost free (chosen Housing)

Location San Polo, Brescia, Italy

With Stefano Bertuccelli, Francesca Cervellini

Task To design whatever the PGT (Piano per il Gov-erno del Territorio, the urban development plan of Brescia) allows to design in the district of San Polo, in the south-east of the city, near one of the upcoming new subway stations, respecting limits of builded surfaces and kind of activities allowed. The city is made up of buildings; every new build-ing adds a piece of city or changes it a bit: to de-sign architecture means to think about and to choose how these changes will occur, considering the city as a whole.

Final Exam/Thesis pt.2One Hundred Plans

Year 2015

Theme Research on architectural variations

Location Valle Gargassa, Rossiglione, Italy

Task This is a collection of one hundred drawings made during the summer of 2015 on A4 paper sheets with a blue ink pen. This exercise is a preliminary study of the context, carried out as a set of projects which explore space and its possibilites and afterwards becomes an auton-omous work.It is a colletctor of forms and atmospheres, in which different themes and archetypical topics of architecture are dealt with: monumentality, geometry, typology, signs overlap, relationship between inner and outer space, the passage, the wall depht, the sequence of spaces, the fragment. These themes are developed by an-alogic processes with a set of basic operations and changes. The result is a sequence of variations in which there are references, more or less direct, about architectures of the past, and in which the abundance of the graphic signs reflects the po-tential complexity of architecture, regardless its phisical realization.
