Profile As someone with interests in almost everything, architecture is the only career for me. It is one of the only jobs in the world where inspiration can come from anything, geography, history, science, art.
Within architecture I have a particular inter-est in sustainability in every form from upcy-cling and recycling to historic restoration, green technology and environmental de-sign. Among my other interests are music; playing drums and bass guitar, sport, and all forms of art and design including graphics, illustration, photography and furniture design/building.

Food Factory (2015)Agricultural research centre project
Kensal Road, London
My graduation project focuses on the way in which a building can be used to help solve a global issue of scarcity. In my pro-ject I chose to focus on issues surrounding food shortage, including food miles and global distribution of food.
The building was designed to be a centre for urban agriculture, containing a research and educational facility alongside a cafe and a restaurant to promote local food. The layout of the centre also aimed to provide open public space along the Grand Union Canal besides which it is located.
The building makes use of traditional green-house forms and vegetated façades to provide an instant declaration of its function and inhabitation .

Waking Infrastructure (2014)Urban intervention project
Dunston Staithes, Dunston
This project, preceding my graduation pro-ject, also focusing on the way built inter-ventions could help solve the issue of food shortage. The intervention was designed to be built and operated by one person, and to be reproducible in a number of locations.
Following research in to food sources in the UK I found seaweed to be a underused resource, with applications both as a direct source of food and as an additive to vari-ous products. The device I designed would allow seaweed to be grown and harvested.
Throughout the design process I had to con-sider the buildability of the device which I finally built a 1:1 scale prototype of.

Living On The Edge (2013)Social housing and education project
Lime Street, The Ouseburn Valley
The purpose of this project was to devel-op a foyer scheme which would provide accommodation and vocational skills to disadvantaged teenagers.
Located on the Ouseburn river I decided to provide facilities for boat building and re-pair. The form of the building was intended to place more emphasis on the river, and provide public space to this section of the river side which is currently run-down and underdeveloped.
The stepped design of the building allows views down the river and towards the Tyne from all floors and from street level.
Placed, Displaced(2013)Terraced housing project
Clayton Park Square, Jesmond
This project worked with a small 4.5x7 meter site to design a terraced house for a cou-ple. After plotting common movements around the home I tried to optimise the use of space and keep frequently used areas open to facilitate easier circulation.
The design creates a division between social and private spaces in the home, allocating them to separate floors which could then be organised and divided more appropriately.
Open plan areas along with double height and elevated ceiling heights aimed to make the confined dwelling seem as spa-cious as possible
