SKETCHES

I began by brainstorming my ideas for the event invite. I wanted to convey the idea of travel or the journey made during the marathon. The strongest idea that came from this was the race bib.

Over numerous iterations and tests, the mailed was polished and refined by adjusting scale, color, details, type, and illustrations.

ILLUSTRATIONS

I designed illustrations of the course highlights that would be featured in small windows on the back of the mailer. Highlights included Sawyerville Dam, Iowa farmland, Memorial Hill, Iowa Women of Achievment bridge, and the Pappajohn Sculpture Park.

The front of the invitation has a small pull-out that reveals a map of the course along with all of the race information to bring along as a mini-invite.
