The driver Rachel Williams, of Booneville, Kentucky, told Kentucky State Police Trooper Chris Hollon that she was west bound on KY 30 when she rounded a curve and the low tire pressure put her vehicle into the hillside before flipping it on to its roof. She was transported to Kentucky River Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. Breathitt County will receive $13,520,000 for road improvements in the state two- year road plan, said Senator Johnny Ray Turner, D-Drift, and Rep. Teddy Edmonds, D-Breathitt. Funds will be allocated to the following projects during the next two years: • Replace bridge on KY-3193 (mile point 4.034) over North Fork of Kentucky River; on CR 5318 .4 mile southwest of KY 15 -- $110,000 for right-of- ways; Replace bridge on Robinson Road (CR 1387 at mile point 0.065) over North Fork Kentucky River located near Quicksand, Kentucky approximately 300 feet south Betty Hardin Times-Voice Reporter On Wednesday, April 18, the lobby of the Breathitt County Judicial Center was filled with more people than usual. Members of the Jackson High School Y-Club and Breathitt High School STOP, along with other members of the community, came together for a forum and reception to highlight the issue of underage drinking in Breathitt County. The event started with an impairment goggles demonstration. Early in the meeting, Superintendent Tim Spencer informed the board the high school graduation is scheduled for May 18, at 6:30 p.m. The speaker at this year’s commencement ceremony will be Kentucky Secretary of State Betty Hardin Times-Voice Reporter A federal grand jury in Lexington has issued a superseding indictment against Breathitt County Superintendent Arch Turner and John L. Turner. According to the new indictment, Arch Turner conspired with John L. Turner to buy votes in the May 2010 primary election. Also Betty Hardin Times-Voice Reporter Dakota Johnson and Kami Griffith will represent their graduating class as valedictorians at Breathitt County High School’s commencement exercises on Friday, April 27. Both seniors will be attending the University of Kentucky this fall. Johnson and Griffith were named 2011 Governor’s Scholars and are recipients of the Jerry F. Howell Award and WYMT SScholarship. Turner, who was a candidate for sheriff, was not charged in the original indictment issued in March. He pleaded not guilty. Arch Turner was due in court for arraignment Wednesday, April 25. News of his plea was not available at press time. Both are scheduled for trial May 14. If convicted, Arch Turner could face a maximum prison sentence of 20 years. John L.
