Fry Master is among David’s satisfied customers with around 30 various equipment under his care. “They treat me like I’m one of their own and I really enjoy working with them.” He says about his favorite customer. “I get asked a lot by other customers why do PMs (planned maintenance). I always give Fry Master as an example: They have a strict schedule they follow at given intervals. Whether the truck has ran one hour or 1000 hours on that given period, the PM is facilitated. It gives me a chance to find potential problems and prevent them. That’s why their operations run like clockwork.”

“Working on different types of equipment challenges me. While I know most of it, they vary in many ways.” David, a U.S. Air force veteran is not a stranger to exciting encounters. “You just have to figure it out, then you move forward. It only becomes difficult when you’ve given up. I never give up.” David talked about daily tasks and how he faces the day head on. “I get up at four in the morning and take control of my day. Whether I have PMs schedules or called on a repair, I am revved for the job.” The positive attitude that David lives by each day stems from his share of personal life challenges. Having to raise grandchildren Ashton, Nicholas, and Landon with wife Sheryl was an unplanned surprise that he took on open-heartedly. “Life throws things at you and you’re just gonna have to catch it.” David heartily laughed as he quoted the lines from his favorite movie Rocky Balboa VI.

“May sound corny, but it’s true. Each of us gets hit. It’s a matter of getting back on our feet. At work, it frustrates me if I had to leave for the day not knowing how to fix a problem with a forklift. But if I get it figured it out and know what my next steps would be for the next day, I am happy. The same goes with life. We just have to figure it out.”

We asked David how he would react if a customer says he didn’t do a good job. “Fortunately, I haven’t been told that.” He laughed. “But, if I were I’d ask ‘how can I fix it?’” David believes that earning the trust of customers is key to the success of the business and that’s what he keeps in mind as he visits his customers.

If there was one thing he would like to tell all his customers, it would be “I always tell them the same thing before I turn over their equipment. If you have any problems with it, give me a call, I will fix it.”

This fishing enthusiast likes to kick back during the weekends in an old pair of jeans, keeping it simple, playing softball or baseball with his grand-kids. Eventually, he plans on retiring in the country, laid back, after all he says, “I’m truly just a good old fashioned country boy.”
