PLEASE PRAY THE ROSARY EVERY DAY

Through your gifts, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul

brings the love and care of Jesus to the poor by aiding

families in many ways. Thank You!

Please pray for the sponsors of SVdeP. . . .

Catholic Relief Services [email protected]

The St. Vincent de Paul Society is not part of nor do they act on behalf of the Parish

or the Archdiocese of Santa Fe. We always appreciate everything these ministries do

for our Parish and communities.

During this difficult time, remember that

the Virgin Mary is waiting to rain down

Graces upon her children. All we have to

do is ask! Now that we are deprived of

the Holy Mass, the Rosary is the most

powerful prayer we have! Say the Rosary

as a family or alone, and entrust yourself

to the Blessed Mother. Pray the Rosary

for an end to the epidemic of Fear throughout the world!

Did You Know? The Patron Saint of Hospitals and the Sick is St. Camillus de Lellis (1550-1614) an Italian ex-soldier. At the age of 16, he joined the army. After gambling away all of his possessions, he took a job at a Capuchin friary as a laborer. Eventually, Camillus had a conversion and sought to join the Capuchins. But on account of an incurable leg wound he received in the war, he wasn’t allowed to enter. After experiencing the poor care and neglect which the sick received in hospitals, Camillus invited pious men to join him in expressing their Faith through loving care of the sick, founding an order known as the Camillans.

Third Sunday of Easter – April 26, 2020

EYES WIDE OPEN Only Saint Luke tells the story of two disciples walking to

Emmaus, and it is full of puzzling gaps. While all the other

disciples and Jesus’ mother were in Jerusalem trying to

understand the amazing fact of the Resurrection, why were

these two hurrying out of town? Only one is named—

Cleopas. Who was the other? A friend, a brother, a cousin

or, perhaps, Cleopas’ wife? The two were going over the

terrible events in Jerusalem during the previous days when

they were joined by a stranger who asked what they were

talking about. He listened intently to their story, and then

explained what had happened to Jesus in the larger context

of the Jewish scriptures. But these two were too blinded by

grief to realize who the stranger was. When they reached

the village it was late, so they persuaded him to come into

the house, which we may guess was either this couple’s

home or a relative’s. The culmination of the story occurs

when they sit down for a meal and Jesus breaks bread and

gives thanks, at which moment “their eyes were opened”

and they knew their guest was the Lord (Luke 24:31). It

was not just that they opened their eyes, but they were

awakened to a whole new reality. Perhaps that is just the

point. God’s grace falls on us in the midst of dinner or as

we hurry down the road, trying to get away. God’s grace

falls on us smack dab in the everyday, ordinary moments,

in the plain and simple struggles to understand, through

conversations in the checkout line, at the bedside of a sick

relative, during phone calls and driving the car to pick up

or deposit the kids. The Emmaus story says that God is

alive, right now, in every moment. Wake up and see! Copyright © 2010, World Library Publications. All rights reserved.

Living Stewardship Now Make a promise to yourself to notice the goodness and

presence of God in the everyday miracles of your life,

Archdiocese of Santa Fe - Sacramental Marriage

Finding Love and Life in the Divine Plan (Quotes to promote the Sacrament of Marriage)

The married are those who have taken the

terrible risk of intimacy and, having taken it,

know life without intimacy to be impossible.

–Carolyn Heilbrun

Do we ever take the initiative in giving our time,

talent and treasure, or do we always wait to be

asked?

Copyright © 2010, World Library Publications. All rights reserved.

grandes. Copyright © 2010, World Library Publications. All rights reserved.

THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER

A Prayer for Healing and

Deliverance Holy Virgin of Guadalupe,

Queen of the Angels and

Mother of the Americas, we

fly to you today as your

beloved children. We ask you

to intercede for us with your

Son, as you did at the

Wedding Feast in Cana.

Pray for us, loving Mother,

and gain for our Nation and

the World, and for all our

families and loved ones, the

protection of your Holy Angels that we may be spared

the worst of this illness.

For those already afflicted, we ask you to obtain the

grace of healing and deliverance. Hear the cries of those

who are vulnerable and fearful. Wipe away their tears

and help them to trust.

In this time of trial and testing, teach all of us in the

Church to love one another and to be patient and kind.

Help us to bring the Peace of Jesus to our land and

to our hearts.

We come to you with confidence, knowing that you are

truly our compassionate mother, health of the sick and

cause of our joy.

Shelter us under the mantle of your protection, keep us

in the embrace of your arms, help us to always know the

love of your son, Jesus.

Amen.
