Getting Started

Common Areas (Each of these rooms needs some of the same cleaning tasks done)

Verify your equipment, supplies and cleaning products are filled and on your cart.

Remove trash.

Check to see if equipment is in good working order.

Remove recyclables.

Put on personal protective equipment.

High dusting and normal dusting.

Damp mop the floor.

Entryways and Hallways

Vacuum

Vacuum mats and then roll up mats so you can dust mop later.

1 Cleaning furnishings

Spot or damp clean any washable frequently touched surfaces.

Empty trash containers.

Floors

Remove freestanding objects, pick up debris.

Apply solution according to label directions.

Use putty knife to remove gum.

Pick up solution.

Note: Wring mop frequently. You may need to change the mop solution more than once.

Sweep, then use a dustpan and hand broom to pick up debris and dispose into trash container.

Mark off areas to be cleaned using “Wet Floor” signs.

Vacuuming

Pick up large debris.

Start high and work low.

Use an “M” or “W” pattern.

Dust lights and ceiling fixtures and spot clean.

Vacuum if carpeted, or damp clean resilient surfaces.

Use a General Purpose Spotter to remove carpet stains. Allow time to dwell and blot with paper towel or clean cloth and rinse.

Sweep or vacuum from top to bottom.

Pick up trash.

Force the water down the trap.

Start at the farthest corner and work toward the door.

Apply the bowl cleaner/disinfectant under the rim and in the bowl, swab/brush to apply.

Let cleaner/disinfectant dwell in the bowl per label directions.

Sweep dry floor areas.

Pick up soils with a dust pan.

Follow label directions for contact time.

Place liner in an approved disposal container.

Let cleaner/disinfectant dwell per label directions

Spray with disinfectant, cleaner and wipe dry following label directions.

Place a new liner in the trash can and return to the proper location.

Check and refill all dispensers.

Don’t press down on the trash. There may be sharp objects in the trash.

Spray glass cleaner on cloth, then wipe from high to low.

After the product has had time to work, scrub the inside with bowl swab/brush and flush.

Wipe dry to prevent spotting.

Rinse the bowl mop.

Clean the outside of the dispensers.

Wipe sinks and countertops with a clean cloth/microfiber and allow to air dry.

Never use the bowl mop.

Spray cleaner on cloth.

Use restroom cleaner for removal of soap scum.

In a large shower area a portable dispenser or a pressure washer can be used.

Wipe and rinse according to label directions.

Wipe down all plumbing pipes with a dry cloth to prevent spotting.

Wipe light switches, push plates, kick plates and doorknobs.

Damp mop the floor with a disinfectant, general purpose cleaner or deodorant digester/cleaner.

Mop with bacteria-based cleaner to remove lingering odors and stains.

NEVER use your hands or feet to pack down into the barrel, instead use another trash can.

Using a treated cloth or micro-fiber cloth.

Always, dust from high to low in a clockwise direction.

Tie of the liner and bring it to the drop location and place bag on an empty can liner or empty box to protect from leaking.

To avoid back injury, tip the trash barrel over onto its side and remove, bend at the knees and not at the waist.
