LANXESS to build plant compounder in India Fri, July 16th, 2010 | Topic: New power

Concern LANXESS, producing a special chemistry, remains true to its strategy of expanding in the BRIC countries and plans to develop a new manufacturing site in India. Currently LANXESS intends to build a compounding facility with an initial capacity of 20,000 metric tons / year for the production of engineering plastics, and brands Durethan Pocan in Dzhagadiya, Gujarat. Construction of new plants compounder starts in autumn this year and become operational, they should at the beginning of 2012, creating 60 jobs. "By investing more than 10 million euros, we will strengthen our position as a reliable supplier of high-tech plastics in the Asia-Pacific region. India is one of the most rapidly developing markets of high-tech plastics, offers the ideal conditions for this work, "- says Hubert Fink, head of business unit LANXESS to produce semi-crystalline products. Together with the factory for compounder in Wuxi, China, new capacity will provide plastics brands Durethan and Pocan entire Asia-Pacific region. Recently, group LANXESS announced that it would increase production capacity for these high-tech plastics in Wuxi. The process of building to be completed by mid-2011 and will increase productivity in Wuxi to 60 000 metric tons per year. India has the potential to become the third largest consumer market for engineering plastics after U.S. and China. According to forecasts, the growth of the Indian economy as a whole will be approximately 8% in the medium term, while the automotive sector increased by 10% this year and next, in 2011 in electrical and electronics industries in the subcontinent in the medium term is expected to increase by approximately 10%. Much of the world's automakers, their suppliers and many international associations of manufacturers of electrical and electronic products are already working in India or invest in new Indian company. Many of these companies are already major customers of the products business unit of LANXESS for the production of semi-crystalline products. "Our new facilities in the city Dzhagadiya LANXESS will concern directly and quickly to provide its customers high-tech plastics for direct marketing channels," - explains Mr. Fink. Land in Dzhagadiya has exceptional geographical conditions for the production of semi-crystalline products. It is located near the city of Thana, near Mumbai, the main center of the automotive industry in India, which already has a lot of plants under the supervision of the customers business unit LANXESS. Well-established connections with international ports provide an uninterrupted supply of plant compounder source material and quick delivery of products to customers outside India. Gujarat is also one of the leading Indian regions of the chemical industry, which means that the regional labor market represented by highly qualified engineers and technicians. To date, LANXESS has invested a total of about 50 million euros in the production section area of 13 hectares in Dzhagadiya. At the end of this year there should run a new facility for production of ion exchange resins. The number of employees in LANXESS at this facility will be the end of 2010 approximately 250 people. The first phase of construction of a new manufacturing site in Dzhagadiya was completed in early March this year, the completion of the object to produce chemicals used in the production of rubber.Currently, production is running as planned following the relocation of enterprises in the city of Thana in Maharashtra.

Purchase opinion:

Domestic company has revised price down ward again WEF 15/7/2010, which has demoralise the market.

As of now HDPE & HM-HDPE to the lowest bottom ,or at lowest range ,we are of the opinion that traders &

manufacturer can start purchasing same either for immediate sale or for the purpose of inventory.

LDPE is also under short supply since long. In these grades, purchaser need not require to wait to avail

material at company price list rate. Details of last rate revision are available on very 1st page of this sheet.

Over all Purchase is advisable in PP/HDPE/HM-HDPE.

As for casted on last Monday, Last Global Polymer Report was also down by $ 20 -$ 30 in all polymers. As per

our study ethylene monomer at international level is being offered @$ 800-$ 825.There are chances that

ethylene monomer may touch $ 750-780 looking to continuous down fall in ethylene prices & recent Control of

US sanctions on Iranian Petrochemicals companies. This may lead all major global Poly ethelene mfgrs to

decrease their offer rate to match market competition.

"Iranian origin polymers facing difficulties after sanctions Iranian origin polymers are currently facing

difficulties in global markets stemming from tighter US sanctions."

As per us, still it’s a time to wait & watch before starting purchase of PE. At any moment of time trend may

take "U" turn towards stability or Increment. It all depends upon nos. of Diff. factors like exchange rate, Mat.

Availability, Monomer's rate, demand in finish goods etc. Procurement of material should be in accordance

with mfgrs monthly production capability, it should not increase 50% of total capacity.
