Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Oct 22: Two days training programme for Retainer Lawyers of Rajouri and Poonch districts was conducted at Dak Banglow, Rajouri. The programme was inaugu- rated by Principal District and Sessions Judge Inder Singh in presence of Mehmood Choudhary, CJM Rajouri. The master trainer Jyoti Sharma gave training to the lawyers about Legal Aid Scheme and concept of Lok Adalats and various other schemes. She also gave various guidelines of National Legal Services Authority and State Legal Services Authority. Chairman, District Legal Services Authority also addressed the gathering. Meanwhile, one day refresh- er course for para legal volun- teers of district Jammu including Tehsil Akhnoor, Bishnah and RS Pura was organized at ADR Centre under the direction of Sanjay Gupta, Chairman, DLSA, Principal, District and Sessions Judge on the topic "Role and Responsibility of Para Legal Volunteers". The resource persons who conducted the proceedings including Adnan Syed, Secretary, DLSA along with Amit Gupta and Sanjay Sharma, Retainer Lawyers of DLSA Jammu. The resource persons ask the para legal volunteers to give massive boost to the legal serv- ices activity in the entire Jammu district and made the people lit- erate about the legal services institutions and availability of legal services. The participating schools were from the 8 zones of district Jammu. The themes for the Role Play activ- ity were healthy relationship among adolescent, charms and challenges of adolescence, HIV/AIDS stigmatization and causes and impact of drug abuse, whereas the themes for the National Folk Song/Dance Competition were equal opportuni- ties for boys and girls/removal of female foeticide, respect and care for elders, protection of environ- ment, drug abuse and charms and challenges of adolescents. In the National Role Play activ- ity, first prize was won by GGHS Gandhi Nagar, second prize by GHS Raipur Satwari and third prize by GGHSS Miran Sahib and in the National Folk Song/Dance Competition, the first position was bagged by GHS Sarore-Bishnah, second prize by GHS Bhour Camp and third prize by GHS Gandhi Nagar. The activities organized under the guidance of Principal DIET Jammu Mangal Dev were managed by Darshana Kudyar HoD DIET Jammu and assisted by Dr Anuradha Sharma and Dr Kalpna Jasrotia Lecturer DIET Jammu. Remove anomalies in pay grades of clerks: GEWJAC Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Oct 22: J&K Govt Employees & Workers Association (GEWJAC) has urged upon the Govt to remove anomalies in the grades of clerical cadre employees and implement 7th Pay Commission report without any more delay. In a meeting of the Association held here today under the chairman- ship of Babu Hussain, several speakers including Bharat Bhushan Sharma, Ashok Singh, Yash Paul Sharma, Jaswant Singh and Parshotam Sharma expressed serious concern over the attitude of the State Government. They strongly demanded that pay anomalies in the grades of clerical cadre be removed, medical allowance of the employees and pensioners be enhanced from Rs 300 to Rs 2000 per month and 7th Pay Commission report be implemented besides framing policy for the reg- ularization of daily wage workers. Driver dies in accident Excelsior Correspondent MENDHAR, Oct 22: A driver was killed after he was ran over by his own vehicle in Mendhar area of district Poonch today. A police spokesman said that 23-year-old Wasim Akram, son of Mohd Khalil, resident of Sangiot was killed after his own Tipper No. JK-12/6170 ran over him when he was trying to repair some wires under the vehicle. His vehicle went out of order when he was proceeding towards Surankote from Mendhar. Near Police Post Ari, he parked his vehicle and laid down under the vehicle at front portion to detect the snag. He tried to connect some wires. The vehicles got started and moved ahead. The driver was crushed under the front wheel. He was rushed to SDH Mendhar and then referred to DH Rajouri but he died on the way.
