New (old) Members

North Sco9 Rotary welcomes back two of our

previous members at the same mee$ng.

Pat DeLuca

And

Jeff AshcraF

LAST MEETING – July 11, 2014 – Chris Johnson, Davenport Public Works

The first two new members of the 2014-15 Rotary year, rejoined on Friday. Former president, Dr.

Pat DeLuca and Jeff AshcraD, were welcomed back by Bill Tubbs and all the members present. FiDy five

a-ended on Friday, including Tricia Kane and Ka#e Beacher, guests of Paul Seelau.

Patrick Olsen was the sergeant and collected $60 in fines. Nathan Kessler was in charge of the first

50/50 drawing for the auc#on. The club received $77 and so did Nathan! Steve Suiter has finished 25 ra-

dia#on treatments at Mayo Clinic. Keith and Jo Ma-ke have sold their acreage and Keith gave $100 to the

educa#on fund.

Our speaker was Chris Johnson with the Davenport Public Works Department. He is the City Ar-

borist and is working to get a plan in place to deal with diseased trees, once the City of Davenport has that

problem. Chris and his department repurpose a lot of wood from trees that are hit by storms or need to

be removed for other reasons.

Two former North Scott Rotarians have come back to rejoin the club. Jeff Ashcraft is now a leader at the Handicapped Development Center in Davenport. Jeff lives in Eldridge, is married to Crista and has three grown children. Dr. Pascal DeLuca, past President of North Scott Rotary and retired superintendent of North Scott Schools, has returned to Eldridge to build his retirement home. He retired in the Rockford, IL area two years ago. Pat is married to Mary Ann and they have 4 grown chil-dren.

The John Deere Classic Golf Tournament has wrapped up for 2014 and it was another wonderful tour! I would like to personally thank the North Scott Rotary Club members who took time to volunteer to help the Iowa Quad City Rotary Club marshal at the 16th hole. It takes a lot of volunteer hours to make this successful event happen in the Quad Cities. Thanks again, Merle Anderson
