DMZ INFO
TOP 5 THINGS TO REMEMBER FOR YOUR TRIP (Foreigner registration card is NOT acceptable. This is UNCMAC policy) UNCMAC is the United Nations Command Military Armistice Commission. 1. We kindly recommend you that you wear comfortable shoes (preferably sneakers) for this tour. Parts of the DMZ (especially the Joint Security Area) strictly enforce a dress code. Military policy requires all visitors to display a “neat and presentable appearance.” Generally, this means no ripped jeans, flip-flop sandals or clothing with profane or provocative text. Sports or athletic clothing (including gym shorts or track/stretch pants) are also prohibited, as are sleeveless shirts, tank tops and excessively baggy clothing. 2. Meal is not included. We will visit a Korean restaurant during the DMZ tour. You may bring food/snacks with you for your comfort. You need to bring about KRW 10,000 to eat at the restaurant or you can bring your own meal. The USO does not have any food services, vending machine or coffee. 3. Consider the weather: The weather will impact your DMZ tour experience! This may seem obvious, but on an especially cloudy, foggy or rainy day, it may be difficult to see into North Korea at the observatories. There’s plenty else to see, but it’s just something to keep in mind. 4. Please obey photo rules! Of course, you’ll want to snap photos of your DMZ experience. However, once you enter the DMZ, your tour guide will most likely inform you when and where it’s permissible to take photographs. Should you take snapshots in prohibited areas, be prepared to yield your film, memory card or even your camera! Please note that cameras with a zoom capability of over 100 mm are prohibited. 5. This isn’t Disneyland! Finally, although the DMZ represents Korea’s most popular tourist destination, it’s not your typical attraction. The two Koreas remain technically at war. Especially inside the JSA, you’ll be just a few meters from armed North Korean soldiers. Any provocative action can literally put your life (and the lives of others) in danger. It’s critically important that you listen carefully to instructions from military personnel and tour operators.

SAC will be celebrating Asian/ Pacific Heritage Month with special recipes in our cooking clubs. We will also take a look at a few famous people from our Pacific region and some fun activities. Don’t forget about all of our regular weekly programs, the kids love them and seem to never get tired of them. *Power Hour: Power Hour is a dedicated quiet time for children to work on homework together or independently. We also have staff who assist the students with their homework needs. This program is offered Monday-Thursday. *Movie Madness: Is on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This is an opportunity for small groups of children to get together with their friends and watch a movie from our movie library. *4-H Fridays: Fridays are dedicated to 4-H Clubs. Each SAC child is a member of a 4-H club. This is a chance for our children to learn new skills, develop new interest and grow their leadership abilities. *Book Cub will be starting another new book. It's exciting to see these young folks taking initiative and joining these beneficial clubs. *No Screen Wednesday: Every Wednesday all computer equipment is turned off. Many of you ask what do the kids do….???? We say lots of things!!!
