This program is currently in progression in all academic classes at the DACC. This environment has a unique approach that allows for academic classes to be facilitated by instructors but the pace and assignments are individually approached. Description Students begin the school year attending classes held in flexible and functional spaces. The spaces are designed to encourage student collaboration and allow for comfort and function. All students have access to 1:1 Chromebooks which can be purchased and/or utilized in the classroom daily. Most assignments will be turned in via Google Classroom. All students are to attend their academics and labs daily. However, on Friday, those who qualify may do their academic assignments from home or from an offsite location. Academic delivery varies based on personalized needs of the student. Ranging from large group to smaller classroom instruction, to tiered groups, as well as individualized help for mastery and/or remediation. All students have access to one on one instruction and time with the instructor. Benefits for Students Who work in a Blended Environment: Students are better prepared for a college environment where many classes are taught and assignments take place online or in digital format. Students are better prepared for a working environment where a great deal of communication takes place and many relationships are formed in an online platform. Students gain time management skills when organizing their day to complete the online assignments and other personal or professional activities. Benefits for Students Who Need more Support in Academics: Students will have the opportunity to work with teachers in a less formal setting when they attend classes and have more flexibility with time and mastery. Students have extra time to work with teachers individually. Student projects and content areas which prove to be challenging for the students will allow for more supports when necessary.

Begin the school year attending classes daily. In order to qualify students will need:• C or better in all academic classes.• No unexcused absences.• No documented discipline issues• Students will need to qualify each week.

Students who have not met the Hybrid Program requirements will:• Come to school on Friday • Have more one-on-one time with teachers• Receive extra help• Take advantage of dedicated time to work on classroom assignments

In a traditional classroom setting, over 75% of our students’ days are spent sitting in hard-backed desk chairs, focused on a teacher. This can be a lot to ask of today’s students, which is why DACC incorporates Blended Learning into our educational toolbox.

Assignments are blended.When it best benefits the students, lectures and reading material are assigned as homework and the problem-solving work that students normally do at home is done in the classroom with teacher supervision and collaboration among classmates.

Increased one-on-one time with instructors.In this Blended Learning environment, students are given the freedom to move at their own pace by independently mastering a skill before moving on. When students do prove mastery, they have more flexibility in how they spend their classroom time to best benefit their educational experience.This model is successful because our teachers have the ability to focus on personalized instruction, intervention, and enrichment.

Comfortable learning environment.The traditional desks arranged in rows have been replaced with booths, high-top tables, and padded benches in what looks like a coffee shop setting. Students are encouraged to move around and collaborate using mobile & ergonimically correct furniture. Chrome books are also available for student use so that they can connect to large screens and work together on class projects.

HyBrid Fridays

Qualifying for Hybrid Fridays provides our students great opportunities, including:• Spend additional time on lab projects• Participate in job shadowing or internships• Further build a resume and portfolio
