Introduction

Additional Functions

The following administrator functions of the DATA ARCHIVER Manager have been added to the DATA ARCHIVER Manager Version 1.21 compatible with Windows.

In addition to the traditional DATA ARCHIVER LB-DM9, this function enables connection to the SCALABLE DATA ARCHIVER LB-DH8 Series.DATA ARCHIVER and SCALABLE DATA ARCHIVER can be connected at the same time.

This function enables the export and import of volume information for volume data sharing across different DATA ARCHIVER Managers. This also copies magazines for distributing volume data among different magazines. The same Group ID will be set for source and target magazines ( 22).

The remaining capacity of a magazine or volume can be monitored.

This function enables the specification of the numbers of the drives to have prioritized write processing if the SCALABLE DATA ARCHIVER is connected.

If you do not wish to schedule synchronization of the write cache, deselect the schedule synchronization setting.

If there is a difference between the free space of the magazine and magazine capacity on the database, modify the magazine capacity managed by the database. If unsynchronized files remain in the cache, modify the free space of the magazine in the database. Unlike the traditional process to correct for inconsistent recovery of magazines, the difference between the database value and the magazine value that is displayed in the list of differences in the history information will not be corrected.

Hardware preparationWith this new version, a server can connect to the Scalable DA “LB-DH8 Series*” as below as well as the traditional DA “LB-DM9”.

Image of hardware connections≥ Connecting with the Scalable DA “LB-DH8 Series”`A single Scalable DA`Active Directory and database can also work on the management server with the DA Manager Ver.1.21

* Scalable DA “LB-DH8 Series” is a library system that consists of multiple modules.A single drive system to read and write data is built in the base module and the expansion module with arecording/playback unit. The Scalable DA can manage multiple drive systems by adding expansion modules withthe recording/playback units.DA Manager Ver.1.21 supports such management of multiple drive systems.

DA.

When the Scalable DA is shown on the drop-down list, operate as described below.≥ For the details on how to unlock the magazine drawer which is connected to DA, refer to “Unlocking the magazine

and drawer unlock” in page 34 of Operation Guide v 1.01.

made ready for unlocking.

Unlock the magazine drawer with the control panel of the Scalable DA, and then draw it out. While the magazine drawer is opening, the unlock operation of the DA Manager on other drawers is disabled.

Re-locking the magazine drawerAfter completing the necessary work, insert the magazine drawer into the Scalable DA.The magazine drawer is put in an unlocking disabled state by pressing “Finish” on the control panel of the Scalable DA.

Notes≥ After completing the work, press “Finish” on the control panel of the Scalable DA. Because the Scalable DA is

present in a state where the magazine drawer can be unlocked unless “Finish” is pressed, neither writing to the magazine nor reading from the magazine can be performed from DA Manager. If “Finish” is pressed, the Scalable DA is ready for operation after performing inventory for checking the magazine loading state.

2 Operate from the Export Volume screen:When the volume has been finalized but the volume information has not been exported, export the volume information. The export destination is an unformatted magazine.

Note≥ If the Export Status does not change from “Not Exported” to “Exported” after finalizing, export volume

information from the Export Volume screen.

Preparation≥ Before starting the operation, make sure the unformatted magazines are loaded in the DA unit.

Note≥ The magazine only recorded volume information is not displayed in the volume configuration magazine list

Importing volume informationThis volume information import function enables you to import the volume information of the source DA Manager to the target DA Manager.

Execute the volume information import as follows:1 Load all magazines that include the volumes of source DA Manager and the volume information in the

same DA unit.2 After executing the inventory to verify the load status of all magazines, the DA Manager registers the

import batch to import the volume information that is exported to magazines.3 Import batch will be operated.

Notes≥ If the magazine file-read operation is executed, the import request batch will begin after the operation has

completed, therefore it may take some time.≥ If the volume name you wish to import already exists in the target DA Manager, the name will be changed

before import. The principle of the name change is that the last character of the volume name will be changed in the order 0 to 9 or a to z so they do not duplicate.≥ When importing an encrypted volume, the encryption key has to be acquired in the target DA Manager before

loading the magazines belonging to the volume. ( 22)≥ During the import batch operation, the Display System Status in the System Management screen displays the

status of the import.
