1 Introduction
The communication and dissemination of research and technology developed in funded re-
search projects is an important task of project participants. The main aim is to reach as many
representatives of relevant stakeholders and target groups as possible. To draw the target
audience’s attention to the research project is thereby the most challenging task, thus the
communication and dissemination strategies must be clearly defined before media is select-
ed.
This document includes a summary of the dissemination activities performed in the UniteEu-
rope project during the whole duration from 1st October 2011 until the 30th September 2014.
The dissemination activities are structured into:
(1) Project dissemination including project related dissemination outputs such as the
project flyer, newsletters, policy briefs and more;
(2) Scientific publications related to the project and project results, and
(3) Deliverables (public and non-public) elaborated during the project.
In the first part of this report, the dissemination activities (project dissemination, scientific
publications and deliverables) are briefly explained. The second part of the report includes
the original files (see annexes). The summary dissemination report thus represents a re-
source in which all published (public and non-public) outputs of the UniteEurope project are
pooled.
The report is structured in the following way: In Section 2 the UniteEurope target groups are
presented. Section 3 describes the UniteEurope multi-channel dissemination approach. Sec-
tion 4 describes the project dissemination (such as flyers, newsletters, and policy briefs) in
more detail. Section 5 lists all scientific publications related to UniteEurope which were elab-
orated during the project duration. In Section 6 all deliverables are listed.
The annexes of this report include all the outputs (files and/or links to the outputs) elaborated
in the project. Annex A (public) includes all project dissemination outputs; Annex B (restrict-
ed) includes the scientific publications and presentations; Annex C (restricted) includes all
deliverables elaborated and submitted during the project duration.

2 Target group
UniteEurope addresses several target groups as illustrated in Figure 1 and which include
policy-makers, communities, NGOs, scientists and the general public as well as media.
Figure 1: UniteEurope’s target groups
3 Multi-channel dissemination approach
UniteEurope follows a multi-channel dissemination approach as illustrated in Figure 2 to ad-
dress these target groups. The dissemination approach included scientific publications and
presentations, the UniteEurope symposium, info mailings, material for the general public
such as the UniteEurope flyer, the info folder, info sheets, and the UniteEurope demo video,
press releases and conferences, the project website and social media sites such as Face-
book, Twitter and LinkedIn as well as the summary report on dissemination activities and the
exploitation plan.

In the following, the deliverables of WP7, which focussed on the dissemination of project
achievements and results, are summarized.
4 Project dissemination
4.1 Project website and social media
The UniteEurope website was available from the beginning of the project. The UniteEurope
website was set up by SYNYO (month 3) and was updated on a regular basis by INSET and
SYNYO. The website gives information about news, the project, the consortium, the deliver-
ables of the project, provides downloads of dissemination material, illustrates links to other
related projects, and supports contact possibilities via an online form, E-Mail, newsletters and
the UniteEurope social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn). The UniteEurope so-
cial media sites were elaborated due to the recommendations stated in the second review of
the UniteEurope project. The social media sites were updated on a daily basis, especially
during the last project months. Postings included information about the project itself, the con-
sortium members, events close to the project, the project’s progress, other research projects
(with a focus on FP7 projects) and related content. Networking was established by present-
ing the project in Facebook and LinkedIn groups and discussion forums. The outcome shows
66 Likes on Facebook with a weekly range of almost 200 reached members. By posting on
Twitter, 83 followers could be acquired while following 630 persons, groups or projects. The
most difficult social media panel to establish was LinkedIn as it is more used as a job plat-
form and information site. On this platform, the project was presented in several group dis-
cussions where it received positive feedback.

4.3 Policy briefs
During a project period of three years two policy briefs were published in the UniteEurope
project as illustrated in Figure 4.
Figure 4: UniteEurope info mailing channel – Policy brief 1-2
The aim of the policy briefs was to particularly address policy makers by offering a summary
of the challenges of migrant integration policy making procedures and illustrating the benefits
of the usage of the UniteEurope social media analytic tool. The content related structure of
the policy briefs is illustrated in Table 3.

The policy briefs were sent to selected addresses in public administrations, municipalities
and NGOs at the local level. The contact details for this target group have been provided by
the city partners of UniteEurope and collected through research by the WP7 leader INSET.

4.4 Material for the general public 1-3
As illustrated in Figure 5, material for the general public was published three times during the
project period. The first material for the general public (published in October 2012) included
the UniteEurope project flyer and which was available in the five languages Dutch, English,
French, German and Swedish. The second material for the general public (published in Sep-
tember 2013) was the UniteEurope press release which was available in the three languages
Dutch, German and Swedish. The third and final material for the general public included the
UniteEurope demonstration video clip, the UniteEurope information folder, and furthermore,
two UniteEurope information sheets, one info sheet which addressed the project and one
focussed on the UniteEurope tool.
For more information about the material for the general public see deliverables D7.3 Material
for the general public (includes the flyer), D7.6 Material for the general public 2 (includes the
press release), D7.10 Material for the general public 3 (including the project video, info folder
and the info sheets).

4.5 UniteEurope Symposium
In June 4th 2014 the UniteEurope symposium took place in Berlin, Germany. It was organised
as a stand-alone event but profited from the synergies of the Cities of Migration conference
which started on the same day. In order to make our target groups aware of the event, sev-
eral communication activities were performed which are illustrated in Figure 6. In addition to
these activities, the following dissemination outputs were elaborated: a press release ad-
dressing the symposium was spread press representatives, two symposium flyers, a sympo-
sium invitation and a symposium agenda. In deliverable D7.9 the activities and outputs of the
organisation and the performance of the symposium were summarized.

The report at hand (deliverable D7.11) summarises the dissemination output of the UniteEu-
rope project. As already described in the introduction, it illustrates a pool of dissemination
knowledge and outputs achieved in the UniteEurope project.

7 Conclusion
In this report (deliverable D7.11 Summary dissemination report) the dissemination activities
and outputs elaborated within the UniteEurope project were summarized. In the UniteEurope
project, a multi-channel dissemination approach was followed in order to reach and address
the UniteEurope target groups policy makers, migrant communities, NGOs in the field of in-
tegration, public policy and participation, scientists in the fields of integration, public admin-
istration, eGovernment, communication sciences and ICT, as well as media and the general
public. The dissemination activities and outputs could be categorized into general project
dissemination, scientific publications and deliverables elaborated in the UniteEurope project.
In the annexes, the dissemination outputs, papers, and deliverables are included.
