2 ExecutiveSummary
This report’s goal is to list all communication anddissemination activities undertakenwithin the PYTHIAproject.Anexecutivesummaryfollowshere:
- As a reminder, within T6.2, the consortium will organize a wide range dissemination andcommunicationactivitiesaimedatinvolvingallthestakeholdersoperatinginthesectorofdefenseresearch and technology foresight (and related fields), in order to enhance the impact of theprojectanditsresults.
- Thoseactivitieswill have the shapeofworkshops.Eachoneof themwill beplanned indifferent
cities/countriesandorganizedbydifferentmemberoftheconsortium.
- Eachofthoseworkshopswillbesurroundedbycommunicationoperationonvariousdigitalmediasupport(suchasLinkedIn,Twitterandsoon)
Disseminationactivitieswillincludeprojectpresentationsatinternationalconferences,workshopsandseminarsaswellaspublicationsonscientificjournalsandspecializedmagazines.Disseminationefforts will be supported by a series of communication actions targeting specific projectstakeholders, such as distribution of newsletters, press releases and social media contents.Evidencesofthoseundertakenactionswillbepublishedbefore(toannounce)butmostimportantlyaftereveryevent.Plus,wecommittocollectasmuche-mailaddressesaspossibletosendnewstoawiderrangeofpeopleaftereachevent.Thiswaywewillincreasethedatabaseproportionallyoftheactionsthewholeconsortiumwillundertake.
- For the project we have created several spaces online, we increased our digital communication
with the creation of a LinkedIn account, a Twitter account, a YouTube Channel, a Newsletter,specialpostersandleafletsdrawnupbyus.

3 Introduction
This reportdescribesall communication&disseminationactivitiesundertakenwithin thePYTHIAprojectfortheperiodM1-M9.Mostspecificallythefocuswillbemadeoncommunicationactivitiesasonlyfewresultswereobtainedandvalidatedduringthis1stprojectperiod.
Wehavetwoearsandonemouthsothatwecanlistentwiceasmuchaswespeak
EpictetusThePaloAltoSchoolsaiditfirst,fromdayoneofthecreationoftheuniverse,ithasbeenproventhatwecannotnotcommunicate.Understandthatitisimpossiblenottonotsendamessage,evenwhenwethinkourselvesasunemotionalandstolid.Planningandcontrollingthiscommunicationweremuchmoreeasieryearsagowhenthecommunicationchannelswerelower.Radio, television, print media, sending of personal mail: before the internet, the communication had abinaryside.Eitheramessagewassenttooneperson,ortoamillionpersons.Butthearrivalofinternethasturnedupsidedownthecommunicationasweknewit.ThearrivalofanindividualmassmediaNowadays,itisaseasytosendinstantlyapersonalizedmessageattheothersideoftheplanet,asitiseasytogetanappropriateresponse.Communicationhadtotakealeapforward,anditdid.AsCharlesDarwinused to say, “It is not the strongest nor the most intelligent spices that survives, but the one mostadaptabletochange”.Taking those assumptions in consideration, wemanage to do our best in order to promote the PYTHIAproject. Without mentioning the obvious fact that we had to create all the adapted online profiles onTwitter, LinkedIn and so on, we also wrote and published a press release and elaborate a tailor-madeNewsletter.ApubliccommunicationforyoureyesonlyAllalongofthisprocesswekeptinmindthechallengeofcommunicateonanotwell-knownproject.Wehadtodealwiththeparadox.Oncewehaveacquiredallthe insandoutofthischallengeweweremoreabletoprovideaneffectiveandaccurateworkthatisexposedinthisdocument.
Ithinkit’sfairtosaythatpersonalcomputershavebecomethemostempoweringtoolwe’vecreated.They’retoolsofcommunication,they’retoolsofcreativity,andtheycan
beshapedbytheiruser.

In general, all communication and dissemination activities must be complied with article 29 —disseminationofresults—visibilityoffundingofGAandwitharticle38—promotingtheaction—visibilityoffunding;
Inaddition to rulesmentioned inGAandbeforepublishinganycommunication, thecommunication textmustbepresented toandvalidatedbyPO.Theexceptioncanbemade for texts thathavebeenalreadyvalidatedinthepast.
In order to be efficient, all communication messages (Twitter, LinkedIn, Newsletter) are prepared inadvance,inthesamedocumentandsenttoProjectCoordinatorforthevalidationbyPO.

5.1 HEMUS
5.1.1 HEMUS’presentation
The Thirteenth edition of the International Defence Equipment and services Exhibition "Hemus 2018 -Defence,Anti-terrorismandSecurity"washeldfrom30-thofMayto2-ndofJune2018attheInternationalFairPlovdiv.Inthisyear’seditionanadditionalaccentwasputontheareasofcyberandbordersecurity,strategiccommunicationsandautonomousandunmannedsystems.
On an exhibition area of 4436 sq.m. of which 1536 sq.m. indoor and 2873 sq.m. outdoor a total of 69exhibitorswerepresented,outofwhich48Bulgarianand21foreign.Seventeen(17)countriesparticipatedintheevent-RepublicofAustria,RepublicofBelarus,RepublicofBulgaria,FederalRepublicofGermany(5companies), Kingdom of Denmark, State of Israel (two companies), Italian Republic, Canada, People'sRepublicofChina,RepublicofLithuania,KingdomofSpain,RepublicofPoland,UnitedStatesofAmerica(4companies),RepublicofTurkey,RepublicofFinland,FrenchRepublic(4companies)andCzechRepublic.Forthe first time the BulgarianMinistry of Interior participated as an exhibitor with two of its bodies. TheBulgarianAcademiaandUniversitiesexpandedtheirparticipation,with10scientificandhighereducationunitspresentingtheireducationalproducts,servicesandinnovativescientificdevelopmentsinthefieldofsecurityanddefence.Thetradeparametersoftheexhibitionrecordeditsmostsignificantgrowthforthepast10years.

5.2 SeaFuture2018
5.2.1 SeaFuture’spresentation
OrganizedbyItalianBlueGrowth(IBG)-promotingcompanytogetherwiththeItalianIndustriesFederationforAerospace,Defence and Security (AIAD), theRegionof Liguria andBlueHub in cooperationwith theItalianNavy-theSeafuture2018editionwilltakeplacefrom19to23JuneintheLaSpeziaNavyBase,Italy.Seafuture is theonlyeventdedicatedto thenavalvesselupgradingand life-cyclemanagementbasedontheuseofthemostsophisticatedtechnologiesavailable.
Seafuture is a 9,000 squaremeters of exhibition space between the historic buildings of theNavyBase,over 40 foreign delegations, 1,500 bilateralmeetings between companies and delegations and betweencompanies themselves, 28 conferences, seminars and workshops regarding both technical and strategicpolicyissues.

5.3 General Assembly of the RAPID club, Directorate General of Armament,MinistryofDefense
5.3.1 RAPIDpresentation
TheRAPID(dual innovationsupportscheme) isasubsidyschemedesignedtobeextremelyresponsive inorder to grant, within four months from the submission of the dossier and the start of the works, afinancingoftheprojects.
Eligible projectsmust be innovative,with high technological potential and have applications in both themilitary and civilian markets. Although they must be carried by an SME or an independent mid-sizecompany, RAPID projects can be collaborative and involve partners of any status (SME, large group,academiclaboratory,etc.).

Thegoalofthisworkshopwastopresentanddiscusswithinvitedstakeholderstheinitialachievementsinthe development of an innovative methodology for performing strategic technology foresight in thedefencedomain.
The main focus was made on information sources and data collection in the process of developing ofstrategictechnologyforesightmethodology.
The participants were invited to share their experiences in data analysis and technology forecasts fromtheir dailywork. Best practiceswere discussed togetherwith end-user requirements, operational inputsand information sources used, in the attempt to identify themost relevant data and technology-relatedinformation (such as technology patents, scientific publications, prototype descriptions, disseminatedmarketing communications and press releases, industry production& sales public reports, socialmedia,etc.)
The details of theworkshop are recorded in Deliverable D5.1 “Report onWS1 – Sources: Stakeholders´requirementsandinputstodatacollection”.

5.6.1 Workshop2presentation
The workshop “Big Data Analytics: methodologies for technology forecasting” took place in Paris onOctober11th,attheIbisStylesHotelinParis.Theexactlocationwas:77ruedeBercy,75012Paris,FRANCE.
Externalexpertsfromdifferentcountries&differentorganizations(privatesector,armamentuniversities)joined the workshop and provided their expertise in field of “Big Data Analytics: methodologies fortechnologyforecasting”.
TheworkshopstartedwiththeglobaloverviewoftheprojectbyEngineering,thenZanasi&PartnerswithExpertSystemFrancepresentedthemethodologychosenforPYTHIA’stechnologyforecasting.Afterthat,experts spokeaboutdifferentmethodologies suchas scientometrics,NLP,data collection.TheworkshopendedupbytheRoundTablewhereexpertsdiscussedPYTHIA’smethodology.
