MESSAGE FROM OUR LTG

AlohA SeAlS!

I hope you all are making the most of your last few weeks of summer vacation! Whether you are hanging out at the mall or serving the community, I hope you are having a great time with your friends. Remember that clubs are still expected to volunteer, attend Division and Region events, and fundraise for PTP and Project eliminate! here’s a quick recap of our goals: 15,000 ser-vice hours, $7,000 for Project eliminate, and $7,000 for PTP. So far we have served 2,687 hours and raised about $700 for PTP through Division fundrais-ers. The total amount raised for PTP does not include what each club has raised. We are a little short on service hours but I know every club board is trying to best to find more service projects.

Remember we have many Region socials that are coming up! every social you go to, we are raising money for PTP. Region Picnic is this week and I want to see a lot of seals there! This will be our first event where we have spirit battles! our wonderful executive Assistants have been working with the eAs of the other divisions in the region to make a new Region Spirit Stick. You will also get to meet and bond with other members of the region.

Remember that you are given an endless amount of opportunities every day and it’s up to you whether you take them or not.

Serving with a smile,Vince NguyenDivision 35 West lieutenant Governor

QOTM: What have you learned in the first three months of the new term?

from being an active member and officer and being able to attend

ICon, I’ve learned that Key Club is not a mere high school club, rath-

er, a family unit that’s tied together through one unifying passion to

serve. It knits all of us together and gives us everlasting memories and unforgettable friendships that I can

to look back and cherish upon!

Michael IllaganMonrovia

In these past three months I learned that in order to have successful fun-raisers and venues for events require

a great deal of publicity and great relations with a multitude of people in order to get the help necessary to

make things happen

Samantha LiuLos Altos

I learned that Key Club is a lot more than a simple club. It is a family. we work together, volunteer together and cheer together. no matter what position you hold in Key Club you have the ability to inspire and make a positive change in your home, school and

community. thanks to these past three months it has helped me immensely grow

as both a Key Clubber and a person. the volunteer hours I serve help change the world. the training conferences I attend

help myself grow as an individual. the spir-it battles I participate in makes me friends

that last a lifetime.

within the past three months of this term, I’ve learned more than I ever thought I would’ve learned in

the past three years. I’ve learned to overcome many fears, public

speaking especially, and now I feel more confident in myself and my abilities, than ever. I couldn’t have grown this much as a person with-

out Key Club as my catalyst, and as a chair, I feel as though all the opportunities I have received are

so surreal. I am so grateful to have been given the blessing of being a member of the opportunibees, and I hope to improve more as a person as my passion for service

continues to ignite.

My ICon experienceBy: Crystal espinosa

once I found out that ICon was going to be in anaheim this year, I knew I wanted to go. I’m glad that a lot of my members thought the same thing because we represented wilson well with 9 of our members going.I knew ICon was going to be fun, with what everyone told me. how-ever, it absolutely blew my mind. along with meeting tons of new and interesting people everyday, it was such an inspiring event. every single person I met inspired me because we were all there for the same rea-son and it was thrilling to see people around the whole world involved and working towards the same goals. It might sound a little lame to say that the workshops were my fa-vorite part about ICon. I was blessed enough to walk into some reallY great workshops, and I don’t say that lightly because they made the biggest impact on me throughout all of ICon.although I’m sad to see that it’s over, I am truly grateful for the experi-ence. I learned lots of valuable things that I look forward to incorporat-ing into our club this term.

the VoungeBy: Maharsh Patel

the vounge social was a really great event in terms of bonding with the division. Personally I enjoyed teaching people how to play munchkin and the competition in each game we played as we ate food and drank tea. we mainly played card games including Mao , Mafia ,and egyptian war along with Munchkin and Cards against humanity. It was a great fundraising idea and I would love to see it

implemented at other locations.

Swimming with SealsBy Dylan Tran

On July 12 2014, fellow Seals and Goldstone Gators swam at the El Monte Aquatic Center. It was a great time for me. I was in charge of collecting the money for the event. It was my first time doing this and at first it was very confusing but I got the hang of it after a while. Even though I couldn’t swim until the last hour and half of the event, I still had the time of my life because of the great number of friends around me. I got to

spend time with my fellow friends and make a couple of new friends as well. After swimming I enjoyed some snacks at the concession stands. Overall I think that this event was a great bonding experience. I’ve come to love joint events because I

get to meet a lot more people than usual.
