Patient Quotes
Patients as PartnersINTEGRATED PRIMARY ACUTE AND COMMUNITY CARE
“[Before] I would just say to her yeah OK I understand and then walk out of there and say 'now what exactly did she say?' ...I didn't repeat it back to her and say 'Is this what you mean?' ...Now I check with her and say 'Is this what you want me to do?' and 'Is this why you want me to do that?”
“I found she [doctor] was quite willing to talk to me which I hadn't thought she was. So it turned out good.”
Participants Feedback“I did like the idea that the workshop presented as it being a partnership because I think the majority of time, until maybe recent years, when you go to the doctor and the doctor is kind of like ‘big daddy’ and he tells you what to do and if you question it then it's like well, 'what are you coming to me for?' And, we should be able to have some input without them feeling threatened.”
