Change is in the Air

It's a good time to be affiliated with our Chapter. Not only are we the only 501(c)(3) Veteran Service Organization in Wisconsin with a 4-Star Charity Navigator Rating, we are also the only PVA chapter to achieve this distinguished rating! Change is good! Ifyou’ve been an inactive member or associate member now is the time to come back

and get involved. We are looking for members to help tell our story, participate in ourupcoming events, and conduct advocacy outreach throughout Wisconsin.

During the month of April we will be conducting Spinal Cord Injury/disease awareness activities. If you can do something within your community, please contact the office so that we can get you brochures and materials to make your event successful.

Churches, schools, and social clubs provide an excellent venue to share our stories.

As the chapter continues to transform, our goal is to build a legacy. We are proud to share that we have started multiple endowments to ensure the chapter’s financial solvency for many years to come. New fundraising ideas, grants, and donors are being sought to grow these endowments and continue to fund our current programs.

As always, the donation process has been made easy by directing donors to our chapter website at www.wisconsinpva.org. Continued on page 2

SCI Out-patient Annual ExamLunch Program

As part of our community outreach program the chapter is providing a lunch program for

veterans who get their annual SCI exam in the out-patient clinic at the SCI center here in Milwaukee. We collaborated with the SCI staff dietitian, Samantha Schleiger, and

came up with a menu that’s nutritional and well-balanced. We all know first-hand what it is like to fast and prepare for our annual exams. This is a test program and we

welcome your feedback.

Fisher House WisconsinAnother community outreach initiative this year is for the chapter to support the “Meal-train” program at the

Fisher House. Every month we will be selecting a date to provide a meal to the house guests. Pictured below is our first dinner served by our volunteers Mrs. Julie Kronenburg, Mr. Scott Griffith, and Mr. Troy Kurczek.

The guests enjoyed a nice home cooked style meal after spending all day at the hospital with their loved one. If you would like to help support this program, please contact the chapter office. We can only

schedule meal dates 30 days in advance.

Jamaican Service ProjectPVA Wisconsin is helping support those who are less fortunate in Jamaica.

We are accepting medical supplies:
