Detoxification or detox, is the process of removing toxic substances from the

body.  The contemporary junk food and fast food diet lacks life giving

nourishment as it is based upon unnatural, highly refined, processed,

genetically altered and synthetically chemicalized non-foods. In other words,

modern “food” looks–and to some–tastes like food, but it is in essence

chemical waste.  Our food should be of the highest quality/life-force—live,

organic, whole grains, fruits, vegetables, fresh juices and herbs full of enzymes.

The Seven Day Detox is a purification guide for your mind, body and spirit. It is

a one-week guided program to self education, self-evaluation, and soulcare.

The intentions of this guide are to increase self-knowledge, peace, healing, and

wholeness. You may wish to use this guide beyond seven days. I affirm this

purification guide initiates and inspires your transition to healthy living. To

enhance your detox, I recommend that you complete your purification with a

fast. Fasting creates and maintains balance in the body. There are several

ways to fast (liquid fast, water only fast, fresh juice only fast, a fruit fast, etc).

The intentions of fasting are to sacrifice, to cultivate discipline and to develop

self control. Fasting provides the body the opportunity to rest and to purify.

Culturally, from an African or Indigenous paradigm, fasting engenders

spiritual development and is a simple multidimensional healing experience

that supports the body maintain a high vibration.

Your individual vibration influences the collective and the environment. We

are all interconnected, down to what we eat, think and do. With the current

revolution–protesting, marching, rebelling, etc. I affirm that the revolution is

divinely guided and that vehement Asé (transformative spiritual power) is the

breath of the revolution. While resisting, we must also engage in the evolution

of our mind, body and soul. A full exploration of the evolution of our

multidimensional beings is a discussion that is beyond the scope of this detox

guide, however, I would like to make a few points before weproceed. Firstly, it

is important to acknowledge that by virtue of living in the West, your

definition of health, healing, medicine, and food is fundamentally impacted by

another culture. Food oppression is a strategic effort to devitalize your health

and spirit with the ultimate goal of killing our communities. Fast food and the

overeating of flesh food (meat), creates death, disease, or illness in the body.

What we consume creates who and what we are. This is a scientific law.

Oppression impacts us on every level of our existence. Soulcare, is indeed

revolutionary. Asé to your decision to transform yourself into a high

vibrational being of light.

PLANT FOODI am not a huge fan of labels. However, with the intention of the collective beingon the same page, we will use the term 'plant-based.' Also, instead of diet, we willuse the term lifestyle. A plant-based lifestyle indicates eating either entirely ormostly plant foods (i.e. vegetables, grains, nuts, seeds, legumes and fruits).Thechemicals injected into animals, such as antibiotics, steroids and other hormonescompletely disrupt our natural hormonal balance. The chemicals and additives integrated into our food, weakens and createsdisease in the body. Processed foods contain little or no nutritional value. Processfoods do not feed your body on a cellular level. There are three vital elements ofthe body that we should be aware of (a) body cells (b) the digestive system(intestines) and (c) blood cells. Body cells are made up of red blood cells. The foodyou eat is transformed into your blood cells. Your blood cells then, areresponsible for  producing the cells that make up your body cells, tissues andorgans. We literally are what we eat. Purification or detoxing calls in commitment and discipline. Be gentle andcompassionate with with yourself, but also loyal to the health of yourself, yourcommunity and your ancestors.

THE PROTEIN MYTHFood is supposed to be composed of nutrients (vitamins and minerals),carbohydrates (starches) and fats and proteins, which provide energy (life force).Carbohydrates are quick energy foods. Fats are the slowest burning energysource. They are composed of smaller substances called fatty acids. Some fattyacids can build themselves into larger groups of fatty acids. These types of fattyacids are called poly (many)–saturated fatty acids. This type of fat is usually in asolid form. Polyunsaturated fats are found in nuts, seeds, omega-3, omega-6,soybeans, etc. Saturated fatty acids usually found in animal fats, cow’s milk, beef,pork, etc. We typically take in 30% more than we need to in units of unhealthy fatenergy. It’s dangerous to eat too much protein, especially from animal sources. A combination of various nuts, seeds, whole grains (wheat) and beans are healthysources of protein.   Meat/cattle get their protein from plants. Plants are thesource of amino acids, which are used to make protein. Meat eaters, wait foranimals to eat the plant protein and then they eat the meat. Meat is a secondhand protein. Vegetable proteins such as chia seeds, soy beans, hemp seeds,quinoa, hummus, spinach, guava, peas, beans, lentils, avocado, peanut butter,almonds, shelled pumpkin seeds, cashews, etc are all great sources of protein. So,a proper combination of beans, raw nuts, raw seeds,   and whole grains doesprovide complete protein balance.  The nutrients in fresh fruits and vegetableshave amino acids, as well as chlorophyll that stabilize amino acids and thisreduces the protein requirement for vegetarians.

Eat as many fruits and vegetables as you’d like throughout a day, but not less than5 servings. The beneficial plant chemicals or phytonutrients come in a variety ofcolors.  We have an abundance of fruits and vegetables that we can enjoy.  Pleasedo not limit yourself to iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, potatoes (french fries),bananas, and oranges (mainly as juice). While you are shopping, think rainbowcolors, fresh, and unusual to you. Crunchy orange carrots, deep purple eggplants,bright red plump  tomatoes, green peppers, abundant green leafy romainelettuce, kale, spinach, yellow and green squash, watercress, avocado, cilantro,peaches, mangos, etc. These are nature's gifts, filled with an incredible array ofvitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients that nourish and heal us. The deeper thecolor, the more antioxidants and other beneficial phytochemicals you’re getting.They have fiber that aids in digestion and sugars that break slowly for steadyenergy, some even have protein. They are best bought fresh, the closer to picking time the better and eaten soonafter. Next best is frozen, and the very last is canned (avoid canned if you can–haha, if you can). Try your best to support your local farmers market or produceproviders.  You can eat vegetables raw, steamed, or lightly sautéed in coconut oil.The varieties and recipes are endless–get creative.  As far as salads, add healthysalad dressings and avoid those with sugar, MSG, and other chemicals. Or makeyour own!

THE DETOX

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE MY FOOD

APPROPRIATION CYCLE – EATING + DIGESTION Hours: 12PM - 8PM 

During this cycle, we are most awake, active, present and therefore efficient

at digesting, metabolizing and burning through the majority of our foods. Eat

most of your meals during this time.

ASSIMILATION CYCLE – ABSORPTION + USE

Hours: 8PM - 4AM

During this cycle we are most likely to be relaxed or sleeping. This is when the

body begins  the process of assimilating or absorbing the  nutrients and

minerals from your food and transports them to your organs, bones and cells

via the blood.

ELIMINATION CYCLE – BODY WASTE

Hours: 4AM - 12PM

The body is always actively digesting and you can still eat or drink at this time,

however, this is the period most important for cleansing and releasing toxins.

Fruit, water, smoothies and teas are a great way to break your fast (breakfast).

Meal creation is completely up to you! I do want to mention thatpreparing/cooking meals is a natural form of therapy. Enter your healing kitchenwith high and harmonious vibrations. While preparing and cooking your meals,call in peace and joy. Speak life into your food. Sing, dance and when somethingcomes out terrible, laugh and try again. Cooking for yourself and your family is anhonor. This is the Age of Aquarius (Information) and you have access to so many recipesonline. Enjoy this part of the journey. I also encourage you to recreate yourfavorite meals but with plant foods. You will shock yourself. Here are a fewsuggestions to get you started.

DRINK MORE WATERGetting enough water is essential to your health. Among its other health benefits,water helps maintain your body's fluid levels, which helps your kidneys flush outthe body's main toxin, blood urea nitrogen.  Your body is composed of roughly70% water. That means when we are dehydrated – and most of us spend our daysconstantly dehydrated to some degree – we are affecting the performance of themajority of our body. Nearly all of our systems do not function as well without theproper water intake. Your body’s alkaline and acid balance, also known as pH, can affect your overallwell being. The acid alkaline balance of the body is usually measured by pH. ThepH scale measures from 0 to 14; from 1 to 7 is acid, 7 is neutral, and 7-14 isalkaline. Everything has its own pH such as the vagina, stomach, skin, etc. Anger isacid, happiness is alkaline, tears of sadness is acid, tears of joy are alkaline, stressis acid, relaxation is alkaline, exercise is acid, rest is alkaline, etc.  Maintaining a balance of 75 percent alkaline foods and 25 percent acidic foods isideal. An easy way to accomplish this is to make fruits and vegetables the mainpart of each meal. Most fruits and vegetables are alkaline in nature. You can alsostart drinking alkaline water!

A C I D S + A K A L I N E S

Your brain is strongly influenced by hydration status. Dehydration can triggerheadaches and migraines in some people.  Drinking water makes us feel so refreshed that it actually improves our stateof mind. You don’t have to be severely in need of it to benefit.Drinking plenty of water can help prevent and relieve constipation, especiallyin people who generally do not drink enough water.It may help keep us alert. If you’re going to need to concentrate for longperiods of time, keep water handy to help you stay refreshed, hydrated, andfocused. Dehydration can impair your attention span, memory, and motorskills.Hangovers are partly caused by dehydration, and drinking water can helpreduce some of the main symptoms of hangovers.

Take a close look at your thought patterns and the stories you tell yourself,accept about yourself and accept about reality. A thought is energy, or light thathas been shaped by consciousness. We are dynamic beings of light that at eachmoment informs the energy that flows through us. We do this with each thoughtand with each intention. What we feel, what we think, how we behave, what wevalue and how we live our lives reflect the way we are shaping the light that isflowing through us.   We change the way we shape the light which is flowing through us by changingour consciousness. We do this for example when we challenge a negative thoughtpattern such as anger and consciously choose to replace it with compassion orwhen we challenge impatience and consciously choose to understand andappreciate the needs of others. So, its important to understand that you are notthe thought. You are the awareness of the thought and you have a choice toconsciously and intentionally shift the thought or become a witness to thethought through observation.  No story or intention is more powerful than the ones we tell ourselves about whowe are, how the world sees us, and what we are capable of. There is no story orintention that can not be replaced with another. When we experience anger orjealousy or any other emotion other than peace and joy, we are in an illusion thatis designed to bring our awareness to  those parts of the soul that need healing.When your mind/ego is engaged in illusion or negative self talk, catch yourselfand change the story. You can say, "this thought pattern is not useful." Your thoughts are vibrations and like energy attracts like energy. This is the lawof attraction. If you don’t change the story, your thoughts will only create moresuffering/illusions.  Change the story.

Energy or life force is a subtle electromagnetic force that permeates everythingin the universe. It connects us to everything is called  chi  or  qi  China,  ki  inJapan, prana in India, vibes where I am from and spirit in the Church. It permeatesall matter and flows through all living things as it travels from one entity intoanother, carrying information in much the same way that blood courses throughyour veins bringing nutrients to the various body parts. Because humankindthinks and feels through life there is a concentration of energy also known asmass consciousness encircling the planet. Everyone's ideas and thoughtssurround us. In a world replete with fear, oppression, hate, war–your decision toimprove your life is revolutionary and fundamentally improves the lives of other. Gentle Suggestions: Be Mindful–Of who you and what you are allowing to be around you during thistime. Be Clean– Clean your body, home and office.  Be Still–Sleep, rest and relax. Be Silent–Silence the mind, whether it’s through meditation, sitting calmly innature, or being absorbed in your favorite art or working out. Be Present–If you sincerely commit to the lifestyle, you will have profoundexperiences. Be Aware–As you pay attention to the flow of life around, your third eye willreveal patterns. Nurture Your Creativity–Let your creativity flow freely by focusing on specificactivities or letting your imagination loose. Stay Grounded–It can help us open up unhindered and avoid the commonnegative symptoms of third eye opening, such as feeling disoriented or confused. Healing Crystals –Look for some healing stones that help in clearing awaynegativity and help you to restore proper energy flow. Trust the Vibes–Follow your instinct and do whatever you love to do.

Livity is the Rastafarian concept of righteous, everliving living. Its essence is the

realization that an energy or life-force, conferred by Almighty Jah (God), exists

within, and flows through, all people and all living things. This energy is the

presence of Jah living within us, and is often expressed as "I and I", where the first

"I" refers to Jah, the second "I" for oneself. A primary goal in Rastafarian

meditation is maintaining awareness of I and I.

A primary goal in a Rastafarian's life is to expand his or her Livity. In Rastafarian

philosophy, Livity can be enhanced by intense prayer and meditation (often

enhanced by sacramental cannabis use), adherence to an Ital diet, and perhaps

most importantly, loving behavior toward others. Livity has a strong focus on

living a natural lifestyle which includes the consumption of natural foods. This

expression of love for others is done in recognition of a central love energy within

all people, a concept often referred to as "One Love".

Thank you for participating in the Seven Day Detox.

During this time you will want to be gentle and nonjudgmental with yourself. Ifyou have a rough day, don’t throw the entire idea of detoxing away. Try again thenext day. However, I will admit, this process takes discipline, so just try your best

to follow the guideline!

The goal of this detox is to help you transition into a healthier lifestyle. We live ina society replete with dis-ease and fake food that feeds disease. The trillion dollar

chemical food industry makes look-alike- foods that interferes with the body’sability to function and it deteriorates our health.

 Real food is medicine. It nourishes. It heals. 

You may also want to journal, meditate, stretch and exercise during this detox.

Oh, no more microwaving. It will take longer, but use the oven or stove top to

reheat/heat your food.
