NARACOOPA JETTY RE-OPENEDAfter considerable negotiation with Council’s insurer, a settlement
has been agreed following storm damage to the Naracoopa Jetty.
The safety barrier, which has been restricting access to the entire
structure has been moved 3/4 of the way down the jetty, allowing
community members to access the facility while a works schedule is
planned for the unsafe portion.
Safety signage and buoys will be installed today, with the solar
pump for fish cleaning to be replaced in the New Year.

ART IN THE PARKHaving been awarded a Council
community small grant in July of this
year, the Independent Artists and Makers
of King Island are bringing their project
to fruition.
Angela Strickland, a multifaceted artist
who grew up on the Island has been
engaged to develop street art in
response to the space. With her own
comic and a keen understanding of the
Island, we look forward to seeing what
she comes up with. For more information

TASMANIAN CAT MANAGEMENTThe Tasmanian Cat Management Project (TCMP) is a state-wide initiative to
promote and facilitate responsible cat ownership and management in
Tasmania.
The Project aims to address some of the complex issues surrounding cat
management, including problems created by unowned and unwanted cats,
nuisance to landholders, threat to native wildlife from roaming cats and the
risk of disease spread to livestock, native animals and humans.
The Project recently launched its website www.TassieCat.com which
provides helpful, easy-to-understand advice, tips and resources to encourage
positive changes in responsible cat ownership behaviours among
Tasmanian cat owners and the broader community.
The TCMP, which includes a representative from King Island Council will meet
again early in 2019 to agree on regional Cat Management Strategies and
determine associated roles and responsibilities.
