Diane Benjamin (b. 1964)

Diane Benjamin is a musician and composer living in Minneapolis. A self-taughtcomposer who wrote her first piece at age 8, she took up composing again in 1992.Her choral commissions and instrumental pieces have been performed throughout theUnited States and Canada. Her breast cancer oratorio “Where I Live”, commissionedin 1999, is still receiving extensive performances across the country, and has raisedover $20,000 for local women's cancer organizations. Her choral works include manypieces for women’s voices, as well as some works for men's voices and SATB.

Diane's most recent commissions include a choral work for the Brattleboro VermontWomen's Chorus in honor of their tenth anniversary, and a collaboration with a localdance ensemble. Diane welcomes inquiries about her compositions. She can bereached at [email protected].
