RESOURCES

Fundraisers

Carnival night A hall or auditorium can be decorated to suit the theme of the carnival. You can offer a range of activities, such as a cakewalk and weight guessing. Sell refreshments and provide entertainment too.

Hairy leg contest Advertise the contest well ahead of time. Contestants’ legs are photographed, and the pictures are fastened to glass jars. One vote costs a quarter, and the money is placed right in the jar. The Key Club can arrange for prizes to be donated by local merchants to ALL entries.

Kiss a senior goodbye Take pre-orders and pre-payments for bags of chocolate kisses and messages for graduating seniors. These can be advertised and sold during lunch periods and before and after school. Parents enjoy sending these to their graduates, so find a way to advertise to them as well.

Ice Breakers

Clump Have everyone stand at least five feet apart, so that when you spread out your arms, you're not touching anyone else's arms. The leader then shouts out: "Clump of [some number]"Everyone then has to huddle together in a group huddle or "clump" of that many people. There should usually be people left over because there aren't enough people to form a full clump. If you can't form a clump, then you're out! The game ends with a clump of two, and those two win the round!

Service Projects

Seeds of service Members needed: 3–5+ A great Kiwanis family inter-club opportunity Want to liven up the look of your home, school and community? Take a few minutes this spring to plant flowers at your campus, park or around town. Doing so will beautify your area, and may even plant the seeds of service in all those who enjoy the plants, urging them to pick up where you left off.

Prom rescue Members needed: 3–5+ Talk to your local tuxedo rental location or dress retailer and see if they’d be interested in loaning tuxes or dresses to disadvantaged students for the night of prom. If no, ask them to offer discounts or no- or low-interest financing options to that all your school’s students can participate in that one night to remember. Winning tips: Asking your classmates to donate or cheaply sell their past prom attire can also provide a low-cost option for the less fortunate students at your school.
