Dynamic French Vocalist, and Mack Avenue Recording Artist, with Her Six Piece Group back at Nighttown for two big shows! Vocalist Cyrille Aimée was primarily raised in France by a French father andDominican mother. As a curious child in Samois-sur-Seine, she would sneak out ofher bedroom window to wander into the nearby gypsy encampments filled withthose attending the annual Django Reinhardt Festival.

She quickly fell in love with gypsy music and way of life; years later she would singon street corners with friends while traveling across Europe. While in the midst ofone such odyssey, she found herself at the Montreux Jazz Festival, where she wonfirst prize in the vocal competition - which included the financing of her first self-produced album.

When Aimée audtioned for the Star Academy (a kind of French American Idol),she became a finalist. Informed she would have to sing only what she was told, hergypsy spirit rebelled—and in what was a cause célèbre she walked from thecompetition.

She now happily tours the world with her band as well as in a duo setting withBrazilian guitarist Diego Figueiredo. Aimée's talents also recently caught theattention of Stephen Sondheim, who cast her in an Encores Special Presentation atNew York City's City Center in November 2013.

The New York Times referred to Aimée's major label debut in August 2014, as "abravura turn, presented with a smile."

World Class Vocalist and her Group hit the stage at Nighttown! Featuring PerryHughes-Guitar, Duncan McMillan-Organ, & George Heid-Drums.

Endowed with the kind of liquid phrasing and sheer wisdom that comes from depthof experience on the jazz performance campaign trail, Vanessa Rubin is an ever-evolving classic singer in the making. The development of a true jazz singer is along-range prospect, laden with learning experiences that forge the voice into atrue instrument, rich with passion, deeply invested in living through life’s joys andperils; such is the journey of Vanessa Rubin, jazz singer extraordinaire. Capable ofemploying the gamut of emotions, the mature Ms. Rubin can range from whisperto shout in the blink of an eye; from honey-laden ballads purring like a kitten, to uptempo swinging and scatting like a fluent saxophone, she delivers the goods.

One of the surest tests of a jazz singer is her acceptance by skilled players; therelationship between instrumentalist and vocalist is so often fraught with distrust. Vanessa Rubin has never experienced such travails. From the time she joined theNew York jazz community in the early 80s, under the guidance of suchgrandmasters as Barry Harris and Frank Foster, Rubin’s acceptance has beenuniversal. Instrumentalists have always been impressed by her way around asong, her willingness to flow with their muse, and her innate ability to swing thatmusic.

The list of great musicians who have graced her recordings and bandstands isquite impressive: Monty Alexander, Cecil Bridgewater, Kenny Burrell, Frank Foster,Billy Higgins, Etta Jones, Lewis Nash, Houston Person, Patience Higgins, DonBraden, Toots Thielemans, Steve Turre, Cedar Walton, Grover Washington, Jr., andJames Williams are just a few of the masters who’ve lent their skills to support Ms.Rubin’s artistry. More recently she has completed auspicious global tours withHerbie Hancock, the Woody Herman Orchestra, and the Jazz Crusaders.

Landmark Vocalist & Guitarist and his Quartet back by Popular Demand for TwoBig Nights!

John Pizzarelli, the world-renowned guitarist and singer, was hailed by the BostonGlobe for “reinvigorating the Great American Songbook and re-popularizing jazz.”The Toronto Star pegged him as “the genial genius of the guitar.” And the SeattleTimes saluted him as “a rare entertainer of the old school.”

Established as one of the prime contemporary interpreters of the Great AmericanSongbook, Pizzarelli has expanded that repertoire by including the music of JoniMitchell, Neil Young, Tom Waits, Antônio Carlos Jobim and Lennon-McCartney. Histhemed shows, often performed with his wife Jessica Molaskey, suggest there is nolimit to Pizzarelli’s imagination or talent.

“The ability to infuse pop and jazz with a Chekhovian wisdom about life’s ups anddowns is the special gift of John Pizzarelli and Jessica Molaskey, long-marriedmusical partners whose work gets deeper each year,” The New York Times ravedabout the show “Grownup Songs” at New York’s Café Carlyle.

The next step is introducing the solo work of Paul McCartney to his audiencethrough his September 18, 2015 release on Concord Records, Midnight McCartney, and on stages around the world. The challenge, Pizzarelli says, is lining up thelesser-known McCartney songs alongside the works of Gershwin, Berlin andRodgers.

“It’s not out of the realm to say, ‘Here are some excellent songs. What you justenjoyed and maybe thought was Johnny Mercer, is really Paul McCartney.’ I thinkthey can all stand next to each other.”

Pizzarelli started playing guitar at age six, following in the tradition of his father. Heturned to jazz in his late teens after playing in rock bands, and he received aneducation playing with his father Bucky Pizzarelli and many jazz greats who wouldinfluence his work: Benny Goodman, Les Paul, Zoot Sims, Clark Terry and SlamStewart, among others.

His solo recording career started in 1990 with My Blue Heaven on Chesky Records.

His solo recording career started in 1990 with My Blue Heaven on Chesky Records. He played clubs and concert halls on the jazz circuit, opening for such greats asDave Brubeck, Ramsey Lewis and Rosemary Clooney. In 1993, he was honored toopen for Frank Sinatra’s international tour and then joined in the celebration forhis 80th birthday at Carnegie Hall, bringing down the house singing “I Don’t KnowWhy I Love You Like I Do” with his father accompanying him.

Pizzarelli’s hero and foundation over the last 25 years has been Nat “King” Cole, towhom he has devoted two albums, Dear Mr. Cole and P.S. Mr. Cole. Since 2013,Pizzarelli and pianist Ramsey Lewis have toured a Cole tribute show.

“His sound was singular and inspired,” Pizzarelli says. “I’ve always said we’re anextension, a 21st-century version of what that group was.”

After recording albums for RCA devoted to torch ballads, Pizzarelli signed with theGRAMMY® Award-winning label Telarc International, a division of Concord MusicGroup. His string of successful albums started in 2000 with Kisses In the Rain.

Richie Cole started playing alto saxophone when he was 10 years old in his hometown of Trenton, New Jersey. Influenced by Sonny Rollins and Charlie Parker, Cole’stalent and dedication won him a full scholarship from Downbeat Magazine to theBerklee School of Music in Boston.

His professional career began in 1969 when he joined the Buddy Rich Big Band. And after stints with the Lionel Hampton Big Band and the Doc Severinsen BigBand, Cole formed his own quintet and toured worldwide, doing a great deal topopularize bebop and his own “Alto Madness” style in the 70’s and early 80’s.

Cole has performed and recorded with the great vocalese artist Eddie Jefferson, the Manhattan Transfer, Bobby Enriquez, Freddie Hubbard, Sonny Stitt, Art Pepper,Tom Waits, Boots Randolph, and Nancy Wilson, to name just a few of his musicalcollaborations. Notably, Cole has performed at the Village Vanguard and CarnegieHall as well as gave a command performance for the Queen of England.

Cole was appointed to the Board of the National Jazz Service Organization and theBoard for the National Endowment for the Arts where he served as chairman forone year. He is also a charter member of the International Association of JazzEducators. The Alto Madness Orchestra was developed by Cole in the early 90's and itscontinuing popularity is proof of its uniqueness. As Richie explains, "The idea of theOrchestra is the concept and sound of an eighteen-piece big band using onlyseven instruments, four of which are horns. Not only does this have the big bandensemble sound, it also allows us plenty of room for improvisation as if we were ina quartet setting."

Legendary Folk Singer/Songwriter of Peter, Paul, & Mary fame playsclassic/new material, and shares his wit and wisdom. Rare Club Appearance!

“We all know the music of Peter, Paul and Mary—folk classics that remain thesoundtrack for generations. But our patrons were thrilled to experience therelevancy of that music, and how it resonates through today’s headlines, whenPeter Yarrow brought his solo show to the Tower Theatre. It was so much morethan a nostalgia show. Peter connected with the sold-out audience in ways thatwent well beyond a normal concert: he encouraged sing-alongs and audienceparticipation; he signed autographs at intermission; he personally greeted eachand every one of our VIPs and members; he even auctioned two personalizedguitars to raise money for our educational outreach programs.

Peter turned our theatre into his living room. He created an inclusive atmosphere, encouraging each of us to change our part of the world. It was a memorableevening rooted in the historic milestones of his past, yet focused on the currentissues that continue to call him to activism.

We all know how all the songs of Peter, Paul and Mary sound; what a rare treat tohear what Peter thinks of them. “

– Ray Solley, Executive Director, Tower Theatre Foundation, Bend, Oregon

Peter Yarrow’s talents as a creative artist—both with the legendary trio Peter, Paul& Mary and as a solo performer—are frequently directed at using music to conveya message of humanity and caring. Led by a trail of incense and a little voice at the back of her brain that whispers“Nice try, 60s,” Nellie travels to a land of strange and wonderful music on MyWeekly Reader, revisiting some of the melodies born out of that fertile, conflictedtime.

“Freedom’s just another word forturning off your phone,” says Nellie, who first collaborated with famedBeatles engineer Geoff Emerick on herdebut Get Away From Me. They reunitefor My Weekly Reader (March 24 /Savoy 429 Records). With the aid ofEmerick’s golden ears, she coverssongs from the era of political turmoiland creative delight by Zappa, RayDavies, Steve Miller, Country JoeMcDonald, and then some.

“It’s important for us to be aware andnot succumb to what (jazzman) DaveFrishberg has referred to as ‘weaponsof mass distraction,” adds Nellie.“These songs come out of a time ofless cynicism – back in the 60’s the

darker things in society were balanced by a certain innocence and hope.”

The New Yorker has warily described McKay as “funny and touching, ceaselesslyclever and scarily talented.”

Since her last album, besides eating potato chips, scratching her ass, and watchingreruns of Mister Ed, Nellie has indulged an extended run in the award-winning off-Broadway hit Old Hats and written three acclaimed musical biographies – I Want toLive!, the story of Barbara Graham, third woman executed in the gas chamber atSan Quentin, Silent Spring: It’s Not Nice to Fool Mother Nature, an exploration ofenvironmental pioneer Rachel Carson, and her latest, A GIRL NAMED BILL – TheLife and Times of Billy Tipton, named one of the Best Concerts of 2014 by The NewYork Times.

Nellie has previously released five full-length albums, including Pretty Little Head,Obligatory Villagers and Normal as Blueberry Pie (“among the killer overhauls ofAmerican standards” – The New York Times). She has won a Theatre World Awardfor her portrayal of Polly Peachum in the Broadway production of The ThreepennyOpera and performed onscreen in the films PS I Love You and Downtown Express,as well as writing original music for the Rob Reiner film Rumor Has It andcontributing to the Emmy-winning documentary, Gasland.

Nellie’s music has been heard on the TV shows Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire,Weeds, Grey’sAnatomy.

A recipient of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals Humanitarian Award inrecognition of her dedication to animal rights, Nellie is an annoyingly vocaladvocate for feminism, civil rights and other deeply felt progressive ideals. She iscurrently part of the campaign to get horse-drawn carriages off the streets of NewYork City.
