brave heart

Camp Brave Heart helps kids understand grief.

“The camp helped my son be able to open up and talk to me. It has also helped him understand that he won’t always feel this way.”

“Blessed are those who are sad. They will be comforted.” ~ Matt 5:4

As a non-profit, Cypress Basin Hospice makes this program possible with the help of volunteers

(from ages 16 and up). If you have 4 hours you can give, call us for more details, or see our Facebook page

or www.cbhospice.org.

“They loved it and wished it lasted longer”

If you would like copies of this flyer to post at your church or school, please contact us.

THE PURPOSE The purpose of Camp Brave Heart is to offer education and support to grieving children and their families after the death of a loved one. Camp Brave Heart offers a safe place for campers to explore feelings and to share experiences with others of similar ages, while providing a foundation for growth through the grieving process.

THE VISION While working with families in our communities over the years, we discovered that children are often forgotten or misunderstood during their grieving process. Families may not know how to help their children, especially when the adults themselves are overwhelmed with grief. In response to the needs of grieving families Camp Brave Heart was first offered in 2010. Cypress Basin Hospice continues its commitment to our communities by offering the Camp Brave Heart experience at no cost to participants.

STAFF Camp Brave Heart staff is comprised of volunteers who have special training to aid those dealing with grief issues. Camp staff includes Cypress Basin Hospice personnel, such as counselors, social workers, nurses, and physicians, as well as individuals from the community. If you are interested in volunteering for this rewarding camp, please contact Cypress Basin Hospice for Camp Brave Heart volunteer information at 903-577-1510 or [email protected].
