Page 1 of 2 Board of Trustees Report, October 7, 2019 Matt Wetstein ACCREDITATION The closing of the ACCJC visiting team cycle last week marks a significant milestone in the college’s trajectory toward reaffirmation. The experience of having 11 peer visitors review our report, visit the college, ask probing questions, and seek out documents for their own report left us with a profound sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. I was proud of the visiting team’s approach, and the spirit of collegiality that the team and Palomar College President Joi Lin Blake brought to the task. I was even prouder of the college’s activities and the ISER. Below, I have a list of thanks and kudos to campus members for the great work they contributed. The FPPO staff for making the campus shine Nick Bomarito for providing great tech support and for setting up an excellent hotel team room Chyrel Nicholson for excellent "uber on demand" shuttle service Ronnette Smithcamp for all of her fantastic organizing skills -- one week after getting married! Kathie Welch for her amazing work as ALO and accreditation lead Georg Romero and Diane Putnam for their leadership in making the ISER such a great stand- alone document Kristin Fabos and David Woods for their PR and design touches in the report Rachel Mayo and Olga Diaz for coordinating a great Watsonville visit for the team and a heartwarming open forum Tera Martin for her leadership in the ILC and the t-shirts that are now so popular with the visiting peers Claire Conklin, Robin McFarland, Tobin Keller, and Karl Ewald for being such great models of shared governance in action and for participating faithfully in the round table conversations I get to share with them Terrence Willett and the PRO staff for their great data work, and particularly Terrence for honoring our safe word for not over-communicating (AVOCADO!) All of the student support services staff, folks in the HUB, and individuals all over campus who demonstrated the love and support we provide to students Cynthia Fitzgerald, Kathie Welch, and Sue Gochis scooping ice cream at the ACCJC closure event. Dr. Joi Lin Blake enjoying a cone of Rocky Road before hitting the road.
