Dear FriendsHave you ever wondered how to solve a

ago I did a lot of preparation but still didnrsquotfeel happy about how it was shaping up and Iwas quite anxious about standing up in publicfor the very first time (public speaking isapparently the number one fear for most peo-ple) The night before the talk I went to bedand as I drifted into sleep drifted into thatalpha state it was as if the top of my headopened up and a whole stream of conscious-ness flowed into it as if I was giving the talk inthat moment and word for word the whole talkflowed into my mind like a download of infor-mation ndash all ready for the next day On the dayof the talk I was amazed at how easy it was totap into it once againTrusting the unconscious mindAnd as I gave more talks the process contin-

ued to happen But the journey for me was notabout the information given ndash it was aboutlearning to trust the unconscious mindAnd over the many weekend workshops that I

have run I began to trust the process more andmore There were times when I wanted ametaphor or story to start the day and justcouldnrsquot find the right one And as I drove to thetraining centre that day about three quarters ofan hourrsquos drive almost on auto-pilot the uncon-scious mind would lsquodownloadrsquo the perfect storythat embraced all the learnings for the day Ilearnt to trust that I could tap in to the uncon-scious mind and the answer would be thereWhen we can still the conscious mind in

some way slow down that busy busy chat-tering mind whether drifting into that alphastate just before sleep daydreaming or inmeditation then our unconscious mind canfind the space to communicate its wisdom tous When we let go of fear ndash often fear of fail-ure sometimes fear of success ndash then mira-cles can happenMiracles can happenIn The Physics of Miracles see p4 Richard

strengthens the immune system It even buffersthe effects of stress and can help us live longer

Scientists now believe that ageing is actuallylike a disease that the possible lifespan of thehuman body far exceeds what we currently liveto They believe that inflammation is a primarycause of ageing and are excited at the prospectof finding a new anti-inflammatory drug that cancombat itBut the drug as we now know isnrsquot a drug

Let your mind observe itself Thoughts ariseThe mind exists in some way because youexperience it Apart from that what could besaid about it Examine your mind and thethoughts that arise there Can any concretecharacteristics be attributed to them Do theyhave a location Do they have a colour Aform The more you look the less you findYou note of course that the mind has a capac-ity to know but it has no other intrinsic and

Dear friendsI read somewhere that cats think in images so I talk to my cat inpictures when I want her to know something important like if Irsquom goingaway for a trip or people are visiting the house I taught her how to useher cat flap that way Plonking her outside from the inside I visualisedhow she should move through the contraption into the house Halfwaythrough this visual trip I started to feel very silly and lsquowhatrsquos the point ofall thisrsquo so I stopped and opened my eyes There was my cat with hernose pressed up against the plastic flap ready to push it was such anaccurate reflection of where Irsquod been in my visualisation that I carriedon and shersquos never had any problems with it at all When I tell her adog is visiting she reacts visibly looking around her at the point that Ivisualise the dog so Irsquom pretty sure shersquos getting what Irsquom sending her

problem and in your stuck state you worriedand fretted about finding a solution but in vainEventually when you had given up and focusedyour attention on something else entirely differ-ent the answer came to you in a flash Or per-haps you were struggling to remember some-onersquos name and when you stopped thinkingabout it in a quiet moment the answer justpopped into your headIt often seems that when we let go of con-

scious thinking the desire to analyse and fretover something the desire to control the out-come then we begin to gain access to the vastpotential of our unconscious mind that seemsto know so much more than we doOur conscious mind is a wonderful tool for

logic and reasoning but our unconscious mindhas so much more potential than we can everdream possibleI remember the first talk I gave many years

ago I did a lot of preparation but still didnrsquotfeel happy about how it was shaping up and Iwas quite anxious about standing up in publicfor the very first time (public speaking isapparently the number one fear for most peo-ple) The night before the talk I went to bedand as I drifted into sleep drifted into thatalpha state it was as if the top of my headopened up and a whole stream of conscious-ness flowed into it as if I was giving the talk inthat moment and word for word the whole talkflowed into my mind like a download of infor-mation ndash all ready for the next day On the dayof the talk I was amazed at how easy it was totap into it once againTrusting the unconscious mindAnd as I gave more talks the process contin-

ued to happen But the journey for me was notabout the information given ndash it was aboutlearning to trust the unconscious mindAnd over the many weekend workshops that I

have run I began to trust the process more andmore There were times when I wanted ametaphor or story to start the day and justcouldnrsquot find the right one And as I drove to thetraining centre that day about three quarters ofan hourrsquos drive almost on auto-pilot the uncon-scious mind would lsquodownloadrsquo the perfect storythat embraced all the learnings for the day Ilearnt to trust that I could tap in to the uncon-scious mind and the answer would be thereWhen we can still the conscious mind in

some way slow down that busy busy chat-tering mind whether drifting into that alphastate just before sleep daydreaming or inmeditation then our unconscious mind canfind the space to communicate its wisdom tous When we let go of fear ndash often fear of fail-ure sometimes fear of success ndash then mira-cles can happenMiracles can happenIn The Physics of Miracles see p4 Richard
