WHAT is cyber phishing?● Phishing is essentially an online 'game' and phishers

are nothing more than tech-savvy artists and identity thieves. They use spam, fake Web sites, crime ware and other techniques to trick people into divulging sensitive information such as

- bank accounts &

- credit card accounts

HOW phishing works:● In most cases, phishers send out a wave of spam

emails -sometimes up to millions of messages!

● Each email contains a message that appears to come from a 'well-known' and 'trusted' company.

● The message usually includes the company's logo and name to trick users.

HOW to protect yourself!● NEVER provide your personal information in

response to an unsolicited request.

● If you believe the contact may be legitimate, contact the financial institution yourself.

● NEVER give your password over the phone or if asked by an unsolicited Internet request.

WHAT to do if you think you are a victim!● REPORT it to the appropriate people within the

organization, including network administrators.

● If you believe your financial accounts may be phished contact your financial institution immediately and close all the accounts.

● Consider finally reporting the attack to the local police department &
