NASHUA – Set in the year 1815 during a revolutionary period in France, Les Mis is a musical about conflict, loss, love, and hope. We fol-low the story of Jean Valjean who has just been released on parole af-ter spending the last 19 years in jail for stealing a loaf of bread. He breaks parole and changes his identity. In-spector Javert, the police officer who releases him, makes it his mission to track down Valjean and bring him to justice as he believes that criminals cannot be changed. With his new identity, Valjean becomes the mayor of a small town and adopts Cosette, the daughter of Fantine, a poor factory worker who dies of tuberculosis. Val-jean becomes involved in the ongoing revolution to fight for freedom and de-mocracy and ultimately makes it his responsibility to ensure that Cosette has a safe and happy future by saving the man she loves. Based on a book by the same name written by Victor
Hugo. Music written by Claude-Mi-chel Schönberg with original French lyrics written by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel. English libretto translated by Herbert Kretzmer.
Cast includes 44 talented actors and actresses from 21 surrounding towns in New Hampshire and Mas-sachusetts, spanning as far as Warner and Boylston, MA. AMHERST – On Mon-day, November 11, Veterans Day, the Amherst Town Li-brary is offering the presen-tation “The Kennedy Assas-sination: 50 Years Later” at 2 p.m. in the Johnson Meeting Room of the Library. Chris-topher Daley, a lecturer on historical topics throughout New England for over 20 years, presents a 90 minute multimedia slide presenta-tion in which the audience will relive that tragic day, November 22nd, 1963, in vivid detail through the use of witness statements, pho-tographs, diagrams, pic-tures and videos of the sites in Dallas, and of course the famous Zapruder Film. Since the publication of The Warren Report in 1964, the
debate has raged—was Lee Harvey Oswald the lone as-sassin or were there other gunmen? The lecture will examine the question of lone gunman vs. conspir-acy by scrutinizing the life of Lee Oswald himself, wit-ness testimony, ballistics, and autopsy evidence. Mr. Daley will attempt to dispel myth and adhere strictly to the facts.
Mr. Daley is currently a history teacher in the Lake Regional School System in Kingston, Massachusetts. He received his Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s De-gree from Bridgewater State University. He has formerly served as the Chairman of
