A324 is one of the thinnest versions of CX6. It uses a lighter base fabric that is more flexible, light and thin. It’s finished on both sides: High Gloss & Matte Finish and has no surface topology, It is easy to clean and bonds well to other materials/substrates.

A399 is one of the thinnest versions of CX6 with a textured top surface. A Semi-Gloss finish makes this an easy material to keep clean while maintaining the integrity, look and feel of real carbon fiber weave. This is a flexible material that provides both aesthetic and functional attributes and can be a great replacement for leathers and synthetics.

A368 is an exquisite version of CX6 with a textured and matte top surface. It has a heavier weight base fabric - 245 GSM that provides good handle and substance which likens it to heavy duty leather, canvas and Cordura.

A386 is one of the thinnest, more flexible versions of CX6. It uses a lighter base fabric that is more flexible, light and thin. It’s characterized by it’s textured finish that takes on the actual weave pattern of the Carbon Fiber and it’s matte, soft touch top surface coating.

Carbitex CX6 378: Directional Stretch.A 200 GSM - 2 x 2 Twill fabric, CX6 378 is a unique fabric with similar physical characteristics to 377 but incorporates Carbitex’s patent pending technology of directional stretch control.

DIRECTIONAL STRETCH CONTROLCX6 378 allows for variable stretch along different axis. FIG 1.0 shows a sheet sample (11x17 in) with axis called out in the “portrait” orientation. Different stretch properties along different axis is possible. FIG 1.1 & 1.2 demonstrate how orientation of fabric will vary stretch properties.

CX6 Use, Care & Integration Support

SolventsDepending on the type of alcohol-based solvent used, the effect on the matrix may differ. Aliphatic alcohols such as ethanol and isopropanol can trigger slight swelling.

MicrobialResistant to microbial degradation.

Hydrolysis ResistanceCan be used in underwater applications as well as humid and damp situations. Also good hydrolysis resistance at a high temperature and a good solution for applications located on the exterior of automobiles, which come into constant contact with dirt and water.

Oil & GreaseTypically stable when it comes into contact with greases, lubricants and test oils in tests like ASTM 1, IRM-902 and IRM-903. However, some oil-based fluids may be prepared with additives that could damage the material and should be tested for compatibility before use.

UV RangeWill not yellow or degrade with outdoor exposure.

Cutt ingStandard composite cutting tools such as scissors, utility knives, fabric wheel cutters and other traditional methods. Some customers have utilized computer controlled cutting tables for part cut nesting and fiber orientation control.

SewingCX6 has been sewn to itself and in combinations of leather, other fabrics, and foams. The seam strength is generally very good. Seam strength should be evaluated based on the stitch design, thread size, and seam design for the specific application and tested.

BondingCX6 has been bonded with hot melt fusing films to fabrics and itself. It has also been used with water based cements with solvent based and water based primers. It is recommended to test the bond strength with the desired substrate being bonded too.

Riveting, Bolt ing & ZippersWith CX6 it is possible to add rivets and secure hardware onto. Bolting items to and integrating zipper assemblies are common. Die presses, punches and traditional sewing machines can be used to finish with these methods.

Wrapping & FormingCX6 can be used to wrap panels and form to 2D & 3D shapes. Materials can be pre laminated with adhesives for use in thermal forming processes. A peel-back, pressure adhesive is also available pre laminated.
