On May 20. 1997. the Commission ,eceived a Petrt1on from Commission staff pertaining to tho May 8, 1997 Fedeml Communications Commission Order regardlng Implementation of lhe provisions of the Telecommunications Act ol 1996 relating to Unrversal Service. At an ad hoc moating on May 28. 1997, the Commission voted to open a docket in this matter. An intervention deadline of June 5. 1997 was set at that llme.

2. Dakota Cooperative Telecommunicat1ons, Inc. ("Dakotal is .. certified telecommunications company under the jurlsdlciion ol the Commission. Dakota is interested in !his matter as a provider ol services which will be affected by any rule or ruling adopted by the Commission In this docket.
