Not registered before? Contact the Community Sportsplex now to get your family set up on our registration program, 843-2800. This will speed dup the process on the first day. It will also enable you to register using programABLE on the internet. NOTE: No phone registrations on the first day of registrations.

Registration PoliciesCompleting your registration Form:Please complete the form in its entirety. If your program identifies otherdays or times that may be alternatives for you, enter them as your second choices. This will avoid delays in processing if your first choice isfull. All registrations will be processed on a first come first serve basis.Registration that are dropped off in person, emailed orfaxed before registration starts will be processed at the endof the first day of registration.

Payment fees:We accept cheques, money orders, cash, debit, Visa or Master Card. Wehave calculated the GST (5%) and included it in our fees where applicable.There is a $45.00 fee for NSF cheques. Please note: Registrations andbookings will not be accepted on those accounts that have an outstandingbalance. No post dated cheques are accepted.

Program Cancellations:Register early to avoid disappointment. Delayed registration may resultin program cancellation. If your class is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, you may transfer to another program, subject to availability,or receive a full refund.

Refunds:1. A full refund will be issued for all courses cancelled by the Township.

2. Request for refunds must be received 5 business days prior to program start date. A minimum $15.00 or 15% administrative fee is deducted from the refund.

3. No refunds will be issued if requests are made less then 5 business days prior to the course start date.

4. Pro-rated refunds will be issued for medical reasons only with a doctors certificate. (A minimum $15.00 or 15% administration fee will apply.)

5. Transfers will be accepted prior to the third class. No transfers will take place beyond the 3rd class of a session.

6. No refunds will be issued for senior’s bus trips.

(You will receive your account activation information by email)4. Hit the “Submit” button

Your request may take up to 48 hours to process. Once your online account is active,you can add family members ad view your account details. If you already have an account,call 519-843-2800 and ask for your account Number and PIN. You are ready to go!

Step 2: From the same website, you can then register for any activity. It’s easy, simply;1. Search the current activities.2. Click on any activity name and hit “Add to my cart”3. Login with your Login ID and Password4. Select the family member(s) who will participate in the activity and

answer any questions or add comments5. Click on Check Out to submit payment information.6. Hit “Continue” twice to confirm your order 7. Click “Ok” on the security notice, complete your credit card payment

New for the Summer:We’ve made some changes to our programs for the Summer session.These are some highlights. Please look through the aquatic sectionfor more details.

Summer lesson formats:● Swimming lessons will be offered in a variety of formats.

All sessions will include 9 swimming lessons.- Daily, Monday-Friday for 2 weeks (9 total lessons)- Once a week, Monday nights, Family Lessons all summer (6:00-8:15pm)- Once a week, Wednesday nights all summer (6:00-8:00pm)

● Aquafit Classes: There are some changes for the summer session. ● Monday 8:00pm General Aquafit has been cancelled for the

summer. It will run again in the fall.● General Aquafit classes in the mornings will start at 8:45am, not 9:00

for the summer. Classes will resume at their regular times in September.● Easy Moving Tuesday’s 11:00-11:45 has been cancelled.

● Swim Changes: ● A new Adult Leisure Swim on Monday nights from 8:15-10:00PM

has been added● Adult Leisure Swim Monday mornings (10:00-11:45) will not run in the

summer, but will continue again in September. ● Lane Swim, Monday through Thursday evenings run from

8:00-10:00pm. Pool space will be shared with other programs.● Lane Swims in the mornings (9:45-11:45) will not run in the summer,

but will continue again in September. ● During Public Swims Monday through Friday the Waterslide will be open

from 2:05 – 3:00pm and then close. The area at the bottom of the slidewill be available for swimming. On Fridays the slide will close at 7:00pm.

General Pool Information: Did you know....?Private Rentals• A private pool rental is a great way to celebrate a birthday, or host a special event.Rental times are available Saturday and Sundays between 4:00pm-5:00pm. Call the Supervisor of Aquatic Services (519-843-2800)for more information.

Strollers• Due to their size, and the possibility of restricting change room exits, unattendedstrollers are to be left in the area by the pooloffice. We apologize for the inconvenience,however we need to ensure all exits are maintained free of obstructions in case of anevacuation is required.

Deck Supervisor• During swimming lessons there is a deck supervisor that oversees all the lessons. If youhave any questions or concerns regarding yourchild’s progress they are available to answeryour questions.

Spectators• Spectators are welcome to watch from thespectator gallery. Viewing lessons from thepool deck is not permitted.

Volunteer• Are you looking for an opportunity to volunteer? There are volunteer opportunitiesavailable in the Aquatic Centre. We prefer volunteers with some aquatic background(Bronze Cross or Assistant water safety instructors). If interested please call the Sportsplex, (519) 843-2800 and speak with theSupervisor of Aquatic Services.

Private Lessons• Private lessons run in the same 9 lesson format as all other lessons. If this doesn’t fityour schedule, we do offer “one time” privatelessons. For more information call the Supervisorof Aquatic Services, (519) 843-2800.

Swim Lesson Progressions:• Did you know your child may repeat a level3 or 4 times before completing all of the requirements successfully? When registeringyour children please ensure you register themin the correct level. Swimming skills build fromone level to the next. If your child hasn’t completed a level, they will not have the skillsthey need for the next level.

Missed Classes• If you miss a scheduled lesson we are unableto make them up.

Transfers• You can switch classes prior to the start ofthe third lesson if there is space available.

Cancelled Classes• Classes with low enrollment will be

cancelled approximately 1 week before programsstart. Register early to avoid disappointment.

Diapers•As a courtesy to all we request and requirethat all children who are not toilet trained wearspecially designed swimming diapers. TheAquatic Centre has both disposable andreusable swim diapers available at our administration desk.

Other Tips:If possible, please refrain from feeding your childa large meal prior to their swimming lesson.

• NEW “Family Lessons”Do you have difficulty coordinating all of yourchildren’s swimming lessons? We are offering anew format of swimming lessons on Mondayevenings. We will be offering all swimming levels at the same time. You can register all ofyour children for lessons at the same time.PLEASE NOTE: In order to coordinate thissome instructors will teach multi level classes.Your children could be in a split class. Lessonswill be 45 minutes in length to provide morepractice time for swimmers.

General Pool Information: Did you know?

Free Public Swimming• Beginning in January 2008 the NEWDON INDUSTRIES LTD Public Swim will provide freeadmission to the first 40 children and youth entering the 2:00pm to 3:55 public swim onthe first Saturday of each month.

Public Swim - Come enjoy time in the pool. All the pools and the slide are open. A lane will be designated for those wanting to swim lengths. Ad-mission policy is in effect for all swims. Please note, Monday through Friday during the summer the slide will be open between 2:00-3:00 only. Fri-day evenings the slide will close at 7:00pm.

Parent and Tot Swim - Leisure pool (no slide) will be open for these swims. Parents can come and swim with their children in our warm leisurepool. Children are to be accompanied by an adult. These swims are combined with our Special Needs Swims.

Adult Leisure Swim - Main Pool, Whirlpool open. Adults can come to enjoy "unstructured" swimming. A lane will be designated for those wanting to swim lengths.

Family Swim - Come enjoy time in the pool as a family. All the pools are open, the waterslide will open at 2:00. Children are to be accompaniedby an adult. A lane will be designated for those wanting to swim lengths. The last 2 hours of these swims will be combined with public swimming.

Special Needs Swim - Leisure pool (no slide) will be open for these swims. Our leisure pool is maintained at 92 degrees. Caregivers volunteering their time to help a person with special needs is admitted free (1 caregiver per person). Adults, seniors, and children arewelcome. Aquafit Descriptions (classes geared to adults 18yrs+)

General Aquafit - Use the resistance of water to assist in a quality low impact workout. The option of deep water aquafit will bemade available to those interested in it.

High Intensity Aquafit - This class is geared towards those people looking for a harder, more aerobic aquafit class. The option ofdeep water aquafit will be made available to those interested in it.

Deep Water Aquafit - Enjoy the benefits of an aquafit workout with no impact on joints. Floatation belts are provided, comfortin deep water is required.

Easy Moving Aquafit - This class is a shallow water aquafit class. Use the resistance of the water to assist in a low impact work-out. This class is a lower intensity workout than our general aquafit class.

Rehabilitation Classes: These classes, taught in our warm leisure pool can assist with recovery, increase flexibility and range ofmotion much faster and with less stress on the body than a typical post rehabilitation exercise class.

Arthritis Aquafit - A class specifically designed for those dealing with Arthritis. These classes are taught in our warm leisure pool.Exercising in warm water can maintain and improve your mobility through range of motion exercises.

Diaperfit - A pre registered aquafit class designed for parents and their babies (children must have established neck support). Thefirst 30 minutes is an Aquafit class for the parent. (Babies float in a boat beside their parent). The last 15 minutes is spent in the leisurepool and is a structured parent and tot class. Participants need to register for this program.

Swimming - Preschool

1. STARFISH (4 to 18 months)

An introductory class for babies andtheir parent or caregiver.To enter this level, babies must beable to hold their head up.The goal of this orientation to water

class is to experience buoyancy, movement, entriesand songs and play in the water.

5. SALAMANDER (3 to 5 years)

Preschoolers actively learn newswimming skills including assistedfloats and glides through gamesand songs. The fun includes learn-ing to jump into chest deep water.

6. SUNFISH (3 to 5 years)

Assisted by an Instructor,preschoolers work on stroke andskills progressions. Learning also focuses on goodjudgements in, on and around

the water, and entries and floats in deep water.

7. CROCODILE (3 to 5 years)

Preschoolers start indepen-dent glides and kicking indeep water.Endurance is built throughincreasing distance for frontand back swims.Swimmers learn about the

dolphin kick and try synchro skills in the water.

8. WHALE (3 to 5 years)

In Whale, children willlearn to swim indepen-dently and participate inteam games.Preschoolers will increasetheir distance and improveskills in front and back

swims. Swimmers also learn about throwing assiststo help another person in the water.

2. DUCK (18 to 30 months)

For toddlers or older babieswith a parent or caregiver.Toddlers build confidencewhile enjoying the waterthrough games, songs andactive water play.

3. TURTLE (30 to 72 months)

A transitional level forpreschoolers and their parents.Parents can gradually transferthe preschoolers to the care of

Class Ratio - 10 participants:1 instructor

This is an entry level for children ready to move in shallow water. This level provides an ori-entation to the water and the pool area and introduces floats and glides with kicks.Children build their endurance by improving distance. Cost: $59.25

The front crawl, back glide and shoulder roll for back crawl are further developed.Children work on kneeling dives, surface support and developing a greater sense ofself-safety by understanding their own limits. Endurance is built through a 25-metre swim. Cost: $59.25

The level provides an introduction to front crawl as well the foundation for makingwise choices on where and when to swim. Diving is introduced and children will workon floats and changing direction. Endurance is achieved by building strengh in flutterkick and a 15-metre swim. Cost: $59.25

This level helps the child build skills in front and back swims. Children are introduced todeep water activities and proper use of a Personal Flotation Device (PFD). Endurance isbuilt on flutter kicking with assisted glides. Cost: $59.25

Further refinement of strokes, with an introduction to butterfly and scissorkick as a warm-up/cool down stroke for fitness. Children learn about sunsafety, rescue of others from the ice, and head-first and feet-first shallowdives. Endurance is built using dolphin kick and butterfly drills and a 500-metre swim. Cost: $72.50

Front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke and breaststroke continue tobe refined. In this level children are encouraged to try combining differentstrokes and kicks for fitness. They also work on head-first shallow dives andstanding dives and learn about wise choices, peer influences, and self-rescuefrom ice. Endurance is built through a 400-metre swim. Cost: $72.50

Level 8 provides an introduction to the breaststroke, foot first surface dives, andrescue entries. Children learn about the dangers of open water, hypotherimia,and the performance of rescue breathing on children and adults. Endurance isbuilt on the dolphin kick and 300-metre swim. Cost: $72.50

Level 7 continues to build skills and endurance for front crawl, back crawl and ele-mentary back stroke and introduces whip kick on the front. Children learn aboutairway and breathing obstructions, and participate in timed treading water forincreasing endurance. Endurance is built through timed treading water and a 150-metre swim. Cost: $72.50

Front and back crawl continue to be refined as the elementary backstroke is newlyintroduced. Children are also introduced to safety on ice, elementary rescue of otherswith throwing assists, treading water and the front dive. Endurance is built through a75- metre swim. Cost: $66.00

Back crawl is introduced, along with sculling skills and whip kick on the back. Children trystride dives receive an introduction to safe boating skills. Endurance is developed throughdolphin kick and a 50-metre swim. Cost: $66.00

Additional Aquatic ProgramsADAPTED AQUATICS- $59.25Adapted aquatics is for children and youthwith a physical or developmental disabilitywho need specialized instruction to feelcomfortable in the water and to progressin their swimming skills. Participants willbe taught by an experienced aquatics instructor and assisted by a volunteer.Upon registration you will be re-quired to complete a screeningform for your child. Classes are avail-able for preschool children (ages 3-6years), and school aged (7-12 years).Classes will run Tuesday nights, 6:00-7:00June 30-August 25th.

This course provides comprehensive training covering all aspects of first aidand CPR. Standard First Aid incorporatesall of Emergency First Aid and is designedfor those who require a more in-depth understanding of first aid. This is a requirement for candidates enrolling NLS.First Aid Certifications can only be re-certified one time. After that time thefull course must be taken.

This course will run on August 18th, 19th,20th. Class runs from 4:00-10:00pm onAug. 18th and 19th and from 4:00-8:00pm. on Aug 20th.

Pleasure Craft operator cards aregood for life. As of September 2009 anyperson driving a power boat will requirethe card.

MAJOR SUMMER RENOVATIONSFOR FERGUS GRAND THEATRE

The Fergus Grand Theatre will undergo major renovations this summer. As a result, the theatrewill be closed to events from mid to late June into September.The venue will receive a new roof and the current furnace system will be replaced with a newHVAC system that will be installed on the roof.During the period of construction the walk-in box office will be closed. However, tickets forupcoming fall shows will still be available on-line at the Fergus Grand Theatre site as well as bytelephone, www.fergusgrandtheatre.ca or 519-787-1981. Actual closing dates will be announcedwhen the tender process is completed.The summer closing will see several other projects taking place at the venue includingmaintenance work on all technical equipment as well as technical and box office trainingprograms for interested volunteers.

ACTIVE YOUTH COOPERATIVEFitness kits will be available for use by all youth organization leaders in Centre Wellington. Thesekits are available on a sign-out basis and there is NO COST involved. Funding for these kits were

made available through the “Communities in Action” fund through the Province of Ontario.

Kits are designed for:• Dry land training activities • Summer or Day camp activities • Pre-season sports preparation

• Activity challenges • On-going cross training for sports or cultural groups

Each kit comes with fitness equipment and instructions, all you have to do is call the Sportsplexat 843-2800 to sign up for Leader/Coach training sessions being held in June.

These sessions will be run by a certified fitness instructor!
