1. Grant Allocation

Significance: CVS Caremark builds relationships in the communities it operates by giving organizations $500-$5000.

Steps: Reviewed applications and award organizations based on:•Alignment with CVS Caremark’s giving guidelines;

Benefit children with disabilitiesProvide healthcare for the uninsuredInclusion of disabled children in public schools

•Clear accomplishments in past•Large amount of individuals served•Feasible lead time•Tangible project goals•Credibility

Outcome: I allocated $57,300 to 37 non-profit organizations.

2. State Reports

Significance: The state reports are a summary of all the CVS Caremark community involvement in each state to be given to the Sales Team (MAX), District Managers & Government Affairs

Steps:•Created blank template and filled in;

•In-state facilities•Key giving facts•ALS & St. Jude fundraising data•PBM clients•Easter Seals information

•Edited and finalized documents

Outcome: I helped compile 42 important state reports that will help communicate CVS Caremark’s community impact to key stakeholders.

3. Employee Relief Fund (ERF)

Significance: Launching this Fall, the CVS Caremark ERF will enable employees to support each other during unanticipated and unavoidable financial hardships and emergencies as a result of a natural disaster, family death, medical emergency or other unforeseen designated events.

Steps:•Met with communications team to summarize manual requirements•Compiled relevant documents•Assembled manual to be reader-friendly

Outcome: I assembled a HR business manual to summarize the key information regarding the new ERF program that will be used to help CVS Caremark employees in need.

4. Measuring Employee Volunteerism

4. Measuring Employee Volunteerism

Significance: We need a way to understand how CVS Caremark’s volunteer opportunities help strength engagement . Employee engagement is invaluable to an organization.

Steps:•Conducted secondary research•Researched research methods•Designed survey•Edited survey with market research team•Planned communication to employees with communications team•Finalized survey with employee engagement

Outcome: I researched methods and designed a survey that will capture’s employee volunteerism’s effect on employee engagement through correlations.

Lessons

• Community Relations helps to make a connection with stakeholders• Building relationships is just as important as donating money• Community relations is a win-win situation for company & community• Teamwork is essential both internally and externally to the organization
