KiDS iCe pRoGRAMS

A sport for all seasons, ice skating is a great way to get exercise, meet people and have fun. To learn the basics of skating, it is important to start out on the right “foot” by taking a few lessons. On-ice instruction prevents the development of bad habits, improves confidence and helps to master the basic techniques. Learning to skate also develops coordination, poise and good posture. Getting started takes only a little knowledge and plenty of enthusiasm!

ReStoRAtiVe YoGARelaxation is considered one of the most important aspects of Yoga. We don’t have to be active for something to happen. Our body holds tension in our muscles and we are not even aware of it; by using our breath and softening into longer, supported pos-ture (Asanas), we facilitate our bodies ability to open and release on it’s own. Ideal for those recovering from injury or illness.---------------------------------------------------------------Aquatic Centre Wave RoomThursday Instructor - Akiko Shima

30 Minute ChallengeOn Wednesday, November 26 Active Comox Valley will be challenging Comox Valley residents to take part in the 30 Minute Challenge. Participants are asked to do at least 30 minutes of activity and log their minutes at their local recreation centres or online. Our goal is to reach a million minutes of activity in one day and earn the title of Sportiest Community. As a part of this day we will have group events such as inter-school challenges, and inter-company challenges to see who can record the most minutes. The winner will receive some great prizes donated by our amazing sponsors. Watch out for the Flying Fitness Squad appearing at random locations throughout the Valley. Their purpose is to help you get active and join in the fun.
