Graduation Project: Production of Polyethylene Terephthalate
(PET) which conducted through three
phases:
o Stage One: A literature review for the different technologies
of the production of PET resins and its
monomer TPA, including Market survey to show prices and
statistics for the international and local
market, and finally a process was recommended for PET Production
based on a detailed evaluation and
comparison between all processes.
o Stage Two: Conduct Material and Heat Balance on the
recommended flow sheet using Microsoft Excel,
Aspen Hysys and Aspen Plus; and compare the results with a
literature.
o Stage Three: Preliminary and detailed design of a Continuous
Stirred Tank Reactor CSTRwhere the
Esterification reaction occurs between Ethylene Glycol EG and
Terephthalic Acid TPA in a
homogeneous liquid phase reaction to give the monomer of PET
ready for the polymerization process
later.
