Leading two national projects (IRPA) on “Marine Sediment Dynamics/Submerge
berm to counter siltation”, “Sine-Slab as a coastal protection measure” and
several other short term projects funded by UTM and other agencies. The total
project worth for the RM 6 and RM 7 is RM 1.085 million. For RM8 project she
heads the project on “Climate Change study” with a research grant of RM
196,000 and recently approved for RM 266,000 for the project on “Design and
development of erosion control system at the riverside areas”.
The technical papers on “Sine-Slab system for coastal protection at the coastal
and riverside areas” and “Development of Sine-Slab system for erosion protection
at the coastal areas” and “Design, construction and monitoring of a coastal
protection system” were respectively reported in the proceedings of the
International Symposium on Coastal Zone Management (ISCZM’99) and
International Conference on International Oceanographic Data & Information
Exchange in the Western Pacific (ICIWP’99) and Asia Pacific Symposium on
Construction (APSEC 2000). The technical paper “Laboratory investigations and
Hydraulic Model Investigations of Sine-Slab” was presented in the Seminar
during the soft launching of the Pilot Project at Tanjung Keling Melaka in Sept.
1999. Sine-Slab is patented (PI 9504122 and PI 20041990 ) and design registered
(UK 2055381), presently being commercialized locally. Many overseas
manufacturers and consultants are interested to become agents for marketing
the products.
