RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

• EPICure-2 Study: I have actively participated in EPICure 2 Study, in the form of collecting data and sending the various forms from September 2005 to September 2006. Even. I could learn a lot of valuable lessons in the form of critically appraising data, familiarizing with audit formats as well as learning about spreadsheets.

• An Aetiological Study of Deafness in Children (1991–1993): I conducted this study to determine the aetiology of deafness involving 100 children over a

period of three years & this was an essential part of my MD thesis. The result showed that majority (more than 55%) of deafness was sensory neural type and the major aetiology for this type of hearing loss congenital. This was the first time I learnt about the basics of research.

• Genetic Syndromes Associated with Deafness (1993–1995): My dissertation project involving 50 children with proven deafness associated with genetic syndromes. The study was done over a period of two years from 1993 to 1995. My job was collecting all the data and finally analyzing them with the help of a statistician. The outcome showed a mixture of sensory neural, conductive and mixed hearing losses in those children with genetic syndromes

• Audit on the infant feeding policy Gloucester Hospital, Jan 2010 – Dec 2011 Summary: Audit of 30 case notes of babies who were admitted to NICU and comparing the feeding practise against the current unit policy

• Audit on the use of Surfactant: Gloucester Hospital, Jan 08 to March 2010 Summary: Audit of all the neonates (42) who received surfactant in the

NICU/DS between January 2008 to January 2009 and comparing the

effect of two different surfactants, Survanta vs. Curosurf on the outcome

of the babies on ventilator requirement, use of CPAP and oxygen need.

• Audit on prophylaxis in Infective Endocarditis in children; Bristol Children’s

Hospital, March 2008 to December 2008 Summary: Study on the existing practice of prophylaxis in infective

endocarditis in 50 cardiac cases at BCH paediatric cardiology and comparing

against NICE guideline

• Audit on the hearing screening in neonates: Southmead Hospital

Bristol; Date March 2007 to March 2008 Summary: Audit on the Hearing screening of 50 neonates at Southmead

hospital and comparing against national standard.
